I love that Dusty Springfield track at the end.

Is the silver fox the father of Joans baby, do we know?

I enjoyed it but was not as gripped as previous.

In short:
Really liked the adverts in between
Missed Betty Draper
Don't like new Mrs Draper
Don't fancy Don as much
Still really enjoyed compared to most things!!

YNK · 30/03/2012 09:46

i thought it set the scene for this series very well. Fabulous how the new Mrs Draper is learning the men like to keep their corporate and domestic lives very seperate.
Her sexy dance went down like a lead ballooon with Don, particularly so when it was 'appreciated' by the workers! The madona/magdelene complex - brilliant!!!

Im deciding whether I need to watch it again. I think it was unrealistic they way the time had moved on after all, it couldnt have been more than nine months juding by the age of Joans baby but it seemed like a couple of years.

Loved it, but it was still a slow start despite some absolutely cracking comedy moments - Pete walking into his pillar, Don and Roger hiding behind it, Lane imitating Megan's dance, that fantastic little conversation between Roger and Jane - "Why don't you sing like that?" "Why don't you look like him?"

However, that song.... god, I had to turn the sound down, it was absolutely mortifying! I like Megan but she really doesn't know Don very well at all. Though did anyone else spot that she referred to Dick Whitman?

Didn't miss Betty, really, but then I can't stand the character. Probably because January Jones does too good a job being an ice cold bitch!

Oh, and I thought it was definitely Roger's baby - Joan told him she was pregnant and needed an abortion last series. I got the impression that he knows it too.

BrightnessFalls · 01/04/2012 00:10

It wasnt mentioned in the episode was it? you would think it would be with her taking it to the office.

No, it wasn't mentioned in the episode, but then nothing ever is in Mad Men! Joan told Roger she had to have an abortion last series because she knew it wasn't Greg's baby because of the timings. He must know!

All being a touch harsh, I feel.
Everything was there - all in place as it was and always has been - pace, lack of reveal, male attitudes, Joan etc.
Is this is a case of 'oh yes we loved it but bored now'?
I'm not. Loved every second - especially Megan's routine Grin

I really hope Betty is back in it tonight.

Series dull so far

HumphreyCobbler · 03/04/2012 22:12

it is Roger's baby

gingeroots · 03/04/2012 22:14

Sorry - Pete's wife was in last episode ,not tonight .

HumphreyCobbler · 03/04/2012 22:17

I thought the party bit was brilliant, all the politics over who got what office was funny but Betty's illness was underwhelming. And her fat was very oddly distributed around her face.

BrightnessFalls · 03/04/2012 22:25

The soundtrack is always brilliant. Betty had just given birth in rl, I thought that was why she was fuller.

Anybody else seen this week's episode yet?

wem · 10/04/2012 14:26

There was a tiny reference to it being Roger's baby when Joan went into the office. He saw them across the room, said, 'where's my baby?' then when he got to her pretended/joked he hadn't seen the child and that he'd meant Joan. Very subtle I thought and showed they're both comfortable with the situation (Joan was smiling) but that noone else knows.
