I haven´t read all the thread, but have the boxed set & have just started season 3

I remember seeing some of it on channel 4(?) years ago, but think that I never saw series 4/5 due to it going to Sky?

TBH, I´m finding it a bit crap atm.

The Lisa/Nate thing-doesn´t work somehow.

Then again, I don´t really like either of them, so I don´t really care that he´s miserable/she got pregnant on purpose & they`re not happy!

Hang on. There is someone who is hateful - Brenda's mum.

mosschops30 · 13/04/2012 15:43

I was almost too scared to look at this thread in case any of us ad watched it yet.

Im watching it tonight, dh has been told! Im breaking the healthy eating with a large bag of sensations and a creme egg Grin.
the big c finale last night was bad enough, not sure i can take much more.

I agree Brendas mother is utterly hateful

I got up early to see the recording I made overnight because I couldn't wait.

No spoilers from me apart from the fact that Brenda's mum has a couple of moments of vileness in the finale but that won't surprise anyone. Anyway, come back tomorrow.

mosschops30 · 13/04/2012 16:34

Were you disappointed or was it as great as everyone says

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 13/04/2012 17:00

I was welling up a lot because it was sad and uplifting at different moments. If I hadn't been such a hard cow with an appointment to keep I'd have cried lots of times.

I've saved it to cry over tonight.

ps I still love Ted and Keith. And I want an Anthony. And Darrell is lovely too but just at that annoying 14 year old stage.

Whitershadeofpale · 13/04/2012 17:10

I watched it when it first aired and loved it so much. The finale really had an emotional impact in me unlike anything else I've ever seen. The morning after I watched it I had to get of a bus as I started crying just thinking about it.

I won't give anything away but the key bits for me in the final 10mins are George's face when... and David when he sees ...

I also loved Claire and Ruth's conversation.

I have 'that' song on my ipod and sometimes well up if I'm in the right mood.

mosschops30 · 13/04/2012 21:40

I didnt cry (mainly cos dh was sat next to me and would take ths piss).
But it was very emotional, by far the best ending to a series ive ever seen. Right up until the last 10 mins i couldnt see what all the fuss was about but that last bit blew me away

FANTASTIC Smile

A friend got me Dexter. I watched one episode and was traumatised. I have put it in the charity shop pile unless anyone (with a less sensitive constitution) wants it.

mosschops30 · 13/04/2012 21:45

Which series is it?
I bought one and two and really enjoying it so far

caspercat · 13/04/2012 21:57

Totally agree, wasn't sure til the last 10 minutes, then I started blubbing and haven't really stopped. Heart wrenching stuff. Tho a few tears were definitely because I'm going to miss watching it so much, can't imagine anything ever affecting me like that again.
And what was the song at the end, I really need that on my iPod for those days when you just need to wallow for a bit.
Am bereft....SadSadSadSadSad

hermioneweasley · 13/04/2012 21:59

Just series one. Totally unwatched apart from episode one!

Whitershadeofpale · 13/04/2012 22:06

swallow it's Sia Breathe Me.

AndiMac · 13/04/2012 23:07

WARNING, HERE BE SPOILERS!!!

I just finished watching the final episode. It was good, but I think after having read a few things about how great the finale is, my expectations were raised a bit high. I should have known not to let that happen, as I don't know how it could have been better. Well I teared up through the whole thing at points, but then really cried when Claire and Ruth made up and Ruth refused to let her stay for her sake. And then again when Claire said her goodbyes. The final bit I was already crying, so I kept on, but I don't think it would have been enough to send me over the edge. I was more grateful for the show letting see a bit of the characters' futures than truly sad about it.

It has been an amazing show. After so many episodes, I would find myself thinking about it in the following week. It also gave me probably my favourite serious (vs amusing) quote from a television show. One man, talking about life with his deceased partner, "It wasn't always easy, and it wasn't always fun . . .But it was always worth it."

limitedperiodonly · 14/04/2012 09:19

Watched it three times now - still crying Smile

SPOILERS

Was Maggie pregnant or just at the doctors for some other reason?

Was Brenda pregnant when she was sitting with Willa, Maya and her new husband?

Agree with whiter about George and David's faces at the end.

limitedperiodonly · 14/04/2012 09:23

ANOTHER SPOILER

I laughed that Billy bored Brenda to death!

mosschops30 · 14/04/2012 09:26

SPOLIERS*

I wondered that about Brenda too
Also noticed that Durrel was gay, sitting with his male partner
Who was the guy sitting with David when he saw Keith and then died? Was it supposed to be George, David looked older than him though?
I think the Maggie part is left open for us to make our own mind up.
Loved how David & Keith did the house up, loved Claires fairwell dinner.
Thought the music at the end was perfect

I don't know if they're still up but after the show aired the first time Alan Ball (who is also the mastermind behind American Beauty and True Blood) wrote obituaries for all the main characters on the HBO website. Maggie wasn't pregnant, she was just getting back on with her life as a pharmaceutical rep. And yes Brenda was pregnant again.

Whitershadeofpale · 14/04/2012 12:11

Yes they're still up not sure if the link will work as that's the mobile site but just look and they're there.

dreamingbohemian · 14/04/2012 12:19

It's been years since I saw the finale and I still well up thinking about it!

I saw it in the original run (in the US) so had no prewarning about how great it was... I thought most of it was just a bit okay, but the last 10 minutes -- wow. Best ending ever.

For me the most poignant part is David seeing Keith all young and beautiful just before he goes. SOB.

mosschops30 · 14/04/2012 13:43

Thanks for the obituary link Smile great to tie up all the ends

AndiMac · 16/04/2012 11:15

If anyone is interested, I found on YouTube a "Six Feet Under, In Memorium" program that someone uploaded. It looks like it was a one hour special on TV. It's in five parts, here's the link to the first:

clangermum · 17/04/2012 21:42

Just posted on the Big C thread about how great the current series ending was, and comparing it to SFU, which for me was the best series ending ever. Saw it when it first went out and didn't know anyone else who watched it. Thought about it for ages afterwards. Off to look at those links now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2012 00:04

finally watched the ending - was very good and nice to tie up all loose ends- without giving too much away :)
