Eddie's brother materialises and - just like she did in fact - walks in off the street and gets a job. There and then on the spot. No interview. No paperwork. No security check. Have a job.

Next he's being mentored by a doctor (yes that's right, the one who lives in a camper van in the hospital car park), 1:1 tuition on dissecting rats and observing an operation. All on day 1?? He was only taken on to serve the blimmin lunches. All apparantly 'cleared by HR'. Yeah, right.

Elliott's death door patient protesting in her nightie then keeling over with the strain (as we knew she would because everyone kept saying she'd be ok).

And, while I'm at it Eddie and those irritating quizzical expressions she does gets RIGHT on my wick.

I think I'm going to have to stop watching it. It used to be really good. Bring back Joseph. Bring back Connie. Why aren't Naylor and Spence in it more?? Even Hanssen's not the same, he's gone all weird and creepy looking after an injured pidgeon. I want the old Holby back.

DP and I were saying the same. Their HR policies appear to be non-existent. Eddie (who we loathe) was also employed about 30 minutes after arriving in with a friend!! No checks at all. It's all a bit meh at the minute. Need some stronger storylines.

It's crazy isn't it? Even allowing for the improbability of tv it's still stretching it.

Why does that doctor - don't even know his name he's such a bland character with no back story that I can see - why does he live in the car park??

He must be rich as Croesus with a million £ in loose change. Whenever I've had anything to do with hospital car parks a: they've been extortionate for even 2 hrs, b: you're lucky to find a space at all, c: the tickets they issue are only for a few hours not a permanent camping spot like he's got.

i gave up years ago but i'm a bit about the chap who is now the chief exec (chrissie's dad) who also turned up unnanounced about 5 years ago and was an agency nurse. That is quite some career progression.

I know. Any Doctor I know is completely anal about money and showing off about how much they have so there is no way he'd be living in the car park. And why hasn't anal Hansen forbidden it? There's obv a backstory for him and Edie but they need to stop spinning it out so much. Me and DP also like to play "They'll Be Shagging" spotting the really obvious love/hates Edie and said car park dweller are one, Michael and possibly Petrenko another, Oliver and "the fainter" also a possibility.

Oh he's left now ladyfingers but agree it was an unlikely career progression, unless he had an MBA and a huge range of experience we were unaware of!!

Where is Michael? I miss him.

Holby used to be a No. 1 watching treat for DD and me, but she drifted away about six months ago and now I can't be arsed with it either.

I like Malik, Spence, Naylor and Petrenko, but they are diluted by too many other crap characters and rubbish stories, and a lack of long-term plot building of any coherence or interest.

I think they've exhausted every implausible and dramatic way for people to exit the programme, so now characters are just quietly drifting away, appearing less and less, until you see the actor who plays them in something else.

Hugh Quarshie is in that new series White Heat (which is actually quite good imho).

I've resorted to watching ancient repeats on the Sony channel. Forgot how much I missed Joseph and Connie.
