Kate Plus 8?

I watched the RV episode last night - she is actually deranged isn't she, I mean she has serious problems ( and most of them her own making by the looks of things!) I used to think she was just stressed but she seems completely bonkers. What are the bets the kids won't see Ashley again

I am so glad they've cancelled the show - not fair on the kids and it'll stop people like me tuning in and tutting!

I've watched it over the years but haven't seen it for a while until last night's episode. She was totally deranged but those two other women - Ashley, the help, and her friend (not sure of her name) were goading her so much. It was mesmerizing how close to completely losing it she was. I lost interest with one series after Jon when it was all about her taking the kids on day trips and doing stuff like easter hunts and Halloween to complete excess but last night's episode has got me hooked again. She was such a princess on that white water raft trip - I thought the man steering the boat was very restrained not to chuck her in the water :)

It's so sad the boys seem wary and not themselves while some of the little girls look as if they might end up acting like Mady. Even Cara seems unhappy and she was quite placid when she was younger. I read two of the kids last year left school because of temper tantrums. I feel sorry for them. Jon was like a ninth child at times but he did have some good points too.

Imagine going rafting and expecting not to get a drop of water on you, I mean come on!!

She is SUCH a kill joy, the kids were having great time peeing in the river and she looked like she was sucking lemons.

I imagine the babysitter and Jamie wee goading her because what they really wanted to do was have a full blown row with her.

I read about the kids too getting expelled - I thought they were a bit 'handy' with other kids but that could just be the press.

I think she made it obvious that her and the body guard have been shagging because when he obviously told her to she up in the RV she came out and said ' This is so over!'

She was very very close to losing it completely - the night of the pizza row it was 9.45pm and she was about to start the BBQ - I do wonder if a lot of the kids' winning is down to not enough food at appropriate times. That is far too late even as a one off.

I;m glad I'm not the only one to watch it If you look at the earlier episodes she looks SO different now - like a pole dancer in those heels!

She was so unpleasant on that raft and when the kids had a pee in the water. So precious. A killjoy as you say.

I missed that about the bodyguard. I've read the rumours they had an affair but didn't pick up on it in the programme. They went in the RV and had a private chat and she did say this is so over but I thought she meant the trip. I think you're right though. He did say he wouldn't be rushing into another trip.

She had a paddy about where the swimming costumes were being kept as well. Those kids will rebel big time when they are teenagers. She'll have 8 of them to deal with. I think Cara looks like she's going through early puberty. She can't be more than 10 I think. Poor thing. Her and Mady didn't even get to see the Grand Canyon - Kate sent them back to the RV. Not sure what for.

She does look like a pole dancer. She was frumpy to start with then I thought she went through a stage where she looked young and natural and dressed nice. Now she's so cheap looking. Shorts and heels aren't a nice look. That's all she seems to wear now - shorts, low cut top with heels. She did have some flip flops on at times but the odd picture I catch of her (probably in the DM) she's got shorts on with heels.

I think she's pissed off just about everyone in her life. I don't think she talks to her parents, her old neighbours who were a big help when the kids were babies and also her brother and his wife. I like her at times but she'd be hard to spend any time with.

I mean it can't be coincidence that everyone close to her has upped and left, can it? There HAS to be a reason!

Cara does look like she's going through puberty - she looks like a lot of the girls in ds's year though and he's 11, they start early these days.

I also think she went through a stage of looking lovely but those horrible extensions are like Rod Stewart on a bad day!

I remember Beth. Beth actually looked after three of the kids for a weekend as well so they must have been close. Wonder what happened there. She had a few neighbours coming in folding clothes for her when they were babies and Kate actually said I think at one point they'll always be in our lives but somehow I don't think they are.

I looked up their ages and Cara and Mady are 12 in October of this year so I suppose it's not too young for puberty. I thought they were younger.

I thought Kate looked lovely when she first went blonde but still had the short hair. She dressed well - casual but had a bit of style. She's changed completely. Rod Stewart on a bad day :O

She was so tense last night on that RV trip. The whole trip looked a nightmare. The bus was continually breaking down. She brings a lot on herself. So they'd eaten crap all day. It was late - get some pizzas and salad for them. Don't start the barbecue at that time of night. Can't wait for the next episode. Hope they're all like that :O it was good telly.

At one point John started working for Beth's husband - so perhaps it went tits up?

I seem to recall Kate getting pissed off with Beth about her wanting in on a cookery book Kate 'wrote.'

Oh no. I'm sure I've missed some so will hunt them down on the internet. I didn't know Jon worked for Beth's husband or about the cookbook. There must be some I haven't seen as I know there was one where they went to Alaska and met Sarah Palin. Last night's one was like waiting for a bomb to go off - she was so uptight. So sad to see them all crying when Ashley went off. She won't see them again as you said. I'm sure over the years there'll be one off updates on them. I hope so anyway.

You've got to watch from the beginning Sparklingbrook :) If you got to www.tv-links.eu it's got all the crap telly by alphabetical order (click on TV Shows on the lefthand side). I also recommend Sister Wives (man in Utah with 4 wives - three married to him for almost 20 years then he brings in a 4th). It's got all the Duggar episodes too (I love all the rubbish :)

It will take you exactly one episode to be completely hooked I much prefer the episodes when they used to potter around at home rather thhatn all the trips. Do you remember when she freaked out when they were making pumpkins in the garage? Poor kids

I think that's what made me stop watching this last series - everything got really excessive like Easter when she did a massive easter egg hunt and they each had 12 eggs to find plus they had fairly major presents as if it was Christmas. Then she did it for Halloween - creating some kind of horror place in the basement. It was all so over the top and I think the producers might have had a say in these things. That first halloween in the garage showed what a control freak she is. They were only about 2 or 3. She likes everything to be 'just so' and you could tell from Jon's bored face he hated it all.

Do you remember when she had a go at him in Toys R US shouting out across the store "Hello!!" to get his attention as if he was 5. Then the time she was screaming at him when he went roller skating down the street where they lived. He was a bit of a kid and would have driven me mad too but she spoke so horribly to him.

Oh yes the ToysRus - good God, that was appalling!

I used to forgive her as I thought John used to wind her up but she just got worse once he'd left!

That's true about them being big events over there - didn't think of that. Do you remember she'd correct his grammar when they did the talk bit on the sofa? He looked so pissed off half the time :)

haha, after she did that I started noticing how rubbish her grammar was as well and would be sitting there fingers crossed that Jon would notice and pull her up on it. She was doing that thing where you're conscious of your grammar and end up making more mistakes than usual. To be fair I think she has tried to improve herself but she's definitely gone backwards in the style stakes and has lost who she is I think.

Exactly! Glad someone else noticed it too. She didn't speak naturally at all.

Sister Wives is great. Some tense moments as the third wife at times has been openly horrible to the 4th wife. Cody (!) the husband is a complete idiot and you wonder what they're doing with him. They have to escape from Utah to Nevada in the middle of the night to get away from the law when the story about them breaks on TV. All the episodes are on that link I mentioned before but there has only been 2 series so far.

There was one episode of Sister Wives where they're all sitting on the couch talking to the camera and Cody announces that he helped choose his 4th wife's wedding dress. Christine the 3rd wife stopped the camera and walked off set she was so annoyed. You can imagine all the little jealousies that would creep in when there are 4 wives to keep happy and a man that's missing the sensitivity gene.

I remember that - I lost all respect for him when I realised that he was off with Robyn while Christine was at home with baby Truly and a bad case of PND
