When did Ashley in Emmerdale become so evil?

I thought this too! The way he was looking at Sandy at the end of Wednesday's episode - was very sinister! I'm not a big Ashley fan to be fair. Not very compassionate!

I'm willing to wager a whole pound that there's an "elderly abuse" story in the pipeline.

Yes, I have noticed he has gone a bit twitchy-eye crazy recently. Definetly some kind of emotional abuse thing.

But Ashley was always so nice . I don't like this storyline at all

I think their point is that abuse can happen in every family. Even a vicar's family.

I think the storyline is a good idea it needs to be done, but why give ashley a personality transplant to do it! Yeah he can be a bit careless with peoples feelings but they are making him into a crazy person for this!

Ashley is already showing signs of being evil with sandy, malnipulating things etc, I would have thought it would have been a more realistic storyline if Ashley was shown as a carer at the end of their tether who is not coping and lashes out at sandy, but to me it looks as though its going to be a bit to sensational.

I'll look after sandy, he strikes me as good fun!

I wonder how they are going to bring Ashley back from being evil. Maybe he is on the way to a nervous breakdown as a result of the unhappiness and stress of the past few years, and it is manifesting itself in this way. After the breakdown, he will become old Ashley and all will be forgiven.

Maybe I think about this too much.

It's not that it can't happen, just that his character has changed into a sinister plotter. Instead of a bumbling do gooder.

I am with you kendodd yeah he has been thriugh the mill with the crazy woman and his wifey/marlon thing, but those were caused by him being a dilitry but basically good man, this new plot is making him into a crazy!! Not good!!!

He's had:
Lauren/Marlon and he sees Marlon every day
Mad Sally
The death of baby Daniel then finding out Arthur was theirs
His father 'hastened' his mother's death and he never forgave him
He wanted to move and Lauren persuaded him to stay

Gabby is one of the most annoying TV children ever

I really don't know where this storyline is headed but it does seem strange that Ashley has just changed all of a sudden.

Last time I saw it he was married to Bernice. I liked Bernice but she looked a bit like she'd have smelly breath

He is just so horrible ! There are no good story lines at the moment.

that it is related to Marlon and Laurel's affair and Sandy not being very supportive over them getting back together.

I don't think it's been all that sudden, to me it's been building up for a while.

I didn't like him during the Mad Sally debacle, but especially during the Laurel/Marlon story he was being very passive aggressive and a bloody sap. I wanted to give him a good punch in the gob then.

I agree it's going to be an elder abuse storyline and it's already rather disturbing and horrid. Poor Sandy can be a pain in the arse, but this is just nasty

I agree with FloydieDoydie, he's been horrible for a while. He really started being nasty during the Laurel/Marlon saga. But i think the point of him being the perpetrator of abuse is that he is the person that people wouldn't suspect. They have to show that this can happen anywhere to make it realistic.

I have gone from being an avid Emmwrdale fan to just watching it on Sky+ if there's nothing else on. Finding this story very uncomfortable viewing and it isn't being countered by anything light hearted.
