i prefer dr. phil. i like how he can tell people what's what in a way that never seems to offend them. how does he do it? guess that's why he's so rich.

I like Oprah actually, even the really cheesy shows are quite good (as in horrified fascination type way). I remember one years ago when every member of the audience was given a brand new car!

Daft time to have it on though.

Oooh I am sooo pleased you pointed this out. Have missed Oprah since we got back from California.

How up to date are the shows? I saw T&S on the show in CA last summer but I think the summer ones there were re-runs from earlier in the year.

Saw Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley last summer and Lance Armstrong. Both interesting.

Also they had a regular 'makeover a star's home' feature I liked. Amazing what sad places some of them live in!

Sorry what I meant was e.g, years ago she did things like talk to people about losing your job, getting divorced, getting into debt. I remember one woman she spoke to had ended up living in a car with her children, living off dry food (like crackers etc). The expert came and gave a talk about avoiding debt, getting a solicitor etc - but one thing that really stuck in my mind was his/her observation, 'most of us are only 3 pay cheques away from debt'.

A lot of the shows I saw were based around books e.g. a surgeon who had written a book about looking after your insides brought on sections of bowel, etc to show how it looks when unhealthy. Another show about 'He's just not into you' about how women stay with men who aren't worth their time.

As I say i think it was just hihglights though.

The interior designer lost his partner in the tsunami last year.

I used to watch this years ago first when I lived in America (Its 5 O'Clock, Wheres everybody gone? Oprahs on!) Oh how sad am I!

Then it was on here for a while but for some reason got taken off. Will need to set a reminder for it - does she still do her book club?

Have started watching Tyra Banks' show, it is sometimes quite good. Some shows are completely missable though. She features some of the previous ANTM contestents, like Naima and her twin sister which is great for a nosy like me. It was really interesting when Naomi Campbell was on and she confronted her about being a bitch to her when she was modelling.

Excuse the typing but I split my fingernail and trying to type with a sticky plaster on is trying!

I prefered Maury Povich. He used to specialise in Lie detectors and DNA tests.
I was in 2 minds over one guest, she didn't know who the father of her child was so over 3 shows, tested 8 different men and none of them were the father. She had no idea who she had slept with.
