Can you watch iplayer or 4od on an ipad?

OP posts:

Yes there's an app you can download for each of them.

frankie3 · 08/03/2012 16:06

Yes you can but the picture is quite small. BBc fills the whole screen but it always seems to crash.

Groovee · 08/03/2012 16:14

I have Iplayer, ITV Player, 4OD and 5OD. Never had any problems on my ipad watching them but prefer to listen through headphones

Pinner35 · 08/03/2012 17:38

yes and I watch it all the time. I use headphones too.

Two4One · 08/03/2012 18:05

I can't get sound on 5OD - what am I doing wrong?

Chirpychick2010 · 08/03/2012 21:32

Twoforone there is an app update that sorts the audio problem! There is also a great app catchuptv and it allows you to watch anything on tv at that present time. I have iPad2 and had no problems with any of the tv channels Grin itvplayer and 4od also bbciplayer app let's you watch what on at that time to. X

Lexilicious · 08/03/2012 21:55

I'm finding that the channel apps are selective about what is available. E.g. On demand five there is no Mentalist!! Didn't know there was a tvcatchup app though, but is it live/+1 only?

BrightnessFalls · 08/03/2012 22:06

Why can I get it in my house but, not when Im on a train?

DialsMavis · 08/03/2012 22:32

On the 4od app there is only a small selection of what is available online.

Chirpychick2010 · 08/03/2012 23:38

Brightness not sure apart from it has to be wifi conection as they don't do 3G apart from tvcatchup which works anywhere but the catch up is what's on at that time not as the name suggests Confused Davismavis and lexi yes limited haven't triedtheonline site but if you can use that instead just add a screen bookmark link instead of app!

DialsMavis · 09/03/2012 07:52

I think the "proper" 4od site uses flash player which isn't compatible with I pad.... Or that might be something else... DP is a tv/computer geek by trade and it all melts into one big dry explanation (heavily reliant on acronyms) in my head when I try to recall anything technical he has said Grin

247Dad · 02/04/2012 20:11

Flash player IS compatible with iPad. Just not the iOS version of Safari. Use another browser app such as Puffin, and flash works just fine on iPad. I think Apple thought not supporting Flash in Safari iOS would help kill off Flash quicker, but the widespread misconception about flash not working on iPad has been a bit of an own goal.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/04/2012 20:20

I had no idea, thanks for that 247Dad!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/04/2012 20:23

Bugger, won't download. :(

Lovetats · 02/04/2012 20:38

I never knew about Puffin - thanks for that!
