We have two episodes to go til we finish Twin Peaks. We are really going to miss our cosy "date nights" on the sofa and we've really gotten into it the series.

We've done
Outrageous Fortune (we loved)
The Wire (he loved)

We don't like gory stuff. He won't do Downtown Abbey

What can you recommend??

I can recommend signing up to NetFlix - the films are a bit rubbish but the TV is good. I've watched Coupling and FireFly and have just started MisFits.

If you sign up to TopCashBack and sign up to NetFlix 30-day free trial via that you'll get £12 cashback.

(that's my referral link, if you hate me but still want to sign up just google topcashback)

Thanks

Was thinking more about which t.v series are really recommended by Mnetters

Then I recommend you sign up and watch Coupling (comedy from early 2000s, like Friends only not), Firefly ("western in apce" scifi from Joss Whedon), Misfits (asbo teens get superpowers, channel 4 thing from 2009), Dollhouse (another Joss Whedon thing, downloading personalities into people's brains)

They have Twin Peaks on there so there may also be more things like that.

Battlestar Galactica is awesome.

thestringcheesemassacre · 07/03/2012 18:01

Is Sopranos too violent? If not, watch that next as it's the best show ever.

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 07/03/2012 19:04

The only boxsets i own are :-

Harry Potter - belongs to DS

My absolute favourite comedy sitcom

Roseanne - about 250 episodes Grin

lizmarshmallow · 07/03/2012 19:09

Sons of anarchy is really good, like sopranos on motorbikes!

I'm also enjoying game of thrones, think it's coming out on DVD soon. There's so many I've seen but just aren't springing to mind!

GeorgeEliot · 07/03/2012 20:00

Another vote forSopranos.

Although it is very violent.

Also MadMen

We love

Coupling
Father Ted
The Royle Family
Vicar of Dibley
Fawlty Towers
The Inbetweeners
etc

Especially if they have outtakes, interviews and lost scenes.

smearedinfood · 07/03/2012 22:04

Ooh I'm liking 6 feet under, only seen an episode or 2, looks good

What's Coupling like?

Cutting It
The West Wing
Gavin & Stacey
The Good Wife
New Girl
Bones
Buffy & Angel
Doctor Who

LeeCoakley · 07/03/2012 22:12

Coupling is like an english version of Friends. Very different though and extremely funny!

orangina · 07/03/2012 22:14

You absolutely MUST watch all of Northern Exposure.... it is brilliant, and we are rationing series 5 and 6 at the moment as we don't want it to end......

Gumby · 07/03/2012 22:15

Oh & Mistresses
Brothers & sisters
Greys anatomy

orangina · 07/03/2012 22:15

Also loved Six Feet Under, Brothers and Sisters (got a bit shit by the end, but still enjoyed it!), Greys Anatomy (v cheesy hospital series).

You can't go wrong with Frasier.....

SleepyFergus · 07/03/2012 22:20

Band of Brothers. A teensy bit gory in places, but you get so hooked. And I'm not a war filmy type gal. Must have watched it with DH about 4 or 5 times now. The music is awesome too.

Failing that, The Inbetweeners, Gavin & Stacey (we missed both of these when they were on telly - how, I dunno), Blackadder 1-4, Vicar of Dibley, Jeeves & Wooster, This Life, Cold Feet, Greys Anatomy

Oh, and Max and Paddy. Defo watch that. It's up there with The Inbetweers for good squirmy can't-believe-they-just-said-that moments.

Trills · 07/03/2012 22:32

Coupling is great. Instead of their own area in the coffee shop they have their own area in the pub.

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 07/03/2012 22:46

I settled down one evening infront of T.V, as I decided i would watch Sex in The City.

It was a brilliant episode, the only episode I'd watched.

It was the very last episode, ever.

I'd love the entire boxset.

MarthasHarbour · 08/03/2012 21:22

Piggychunk · 09/03/2012 14:51

My fav are so far Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, ( both have bits of gore but totally relevant to story )
Madmen has no gore currently starting season 3 tonight! Love it

Lost which I adore and has no gore at all.
