EE anyone else distracted by the set design?

In the last few months all of the "houses" on EE have been redecorated. Pat's was always OTT but now each of the others has wallpaper with huge patterns. I'm getting so distracted by the wallpaper I'm not following the plots.. What's going on? New designer?

In Shirley and Phil's because it's unbelievably hideous, yes.

I don't get Shirley and Phil's at all. Wtf was the brief? What are they trying to say about them? Surely the set decoration is an opportunity to convey more about characters than just the basic truth that they have dubious taste

the moon brothers have horrible flowery wallpaper im not sure boys of that age would decorate with huge flowers , and the stories must be really bad because we are talking about wall paper
