Roll on next Monday. In 168 hours we'll know if it's any good. I hope so, as I loved the books.

yes!! As soon as I saw the trailer I had to check I wasn't being palmed off with a repeat.

I didn't know this was a TV show?! I loved the books!

Next Monday Littlepurple, 9pm on BBC4. About chuffing time!

I do love the books but I was a little underwhelmed by the pilot - casting was ok but Dirk was far too attractive (still not a bad thing in a visual medium I suppose) but the story was a bit pedestrian. I hope they get a bigger budget and more ambitious for the new series.

I have high hopes and enjoyed the radio adaptations - so will keep an open mind. I really want Proffessor Trefusis (timelord) to be brought in. I will definitely watch.

No. I thought the pilot was toe-curlingly bad and Mangan was shite.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Just . The pilot messed with the book too much, I agree, and Mangan isn't the right actor for the role. I always visualised Dirk as a cross between Tom Baker and Greg Davies :o but I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

It was pants. And I came to it with an open mind; I like the book but not in a possessive 'Oh no they've got that wrong' way, and I am (or was) quite fond of Mangan because of Green Wing.

But it was pants.

We are! my hubby loved the books so we watched it and thought it was entertaining so we'll be recording it!
