Homeland Series 1: Spoilers

Just finished watching the whole series - so if you haven't seen all 12 episodes, click away now!

Really enjoyed it. Started Friday night thinking I'd just watch the pilot ep and finished in the early hours of this morning.

A few bleary-eyed ramblings/comments: Damian Lewis was excellent, found him really disturbingly creepy at first, totally believable throughout.

Claire Danes, thought the whole "no one believes her" got a bit much but that can be because I was watching in bulk, so to say. She played Carrie really well but I wonder if the bi-polar story-line was OTT. The whole slightly manic, driven to the point of obsession could also have been explained as the after-effects of her time in Baghdad, esp as she'd feel the need to prove herself.

Loved Saul, esp when he comes to the hospital at the end. God that was sad.

Didn't like Jessica. Maybe not her fault as she spent most of the time cooking, shopping and cleaning, she didn't have much of a character apart from being "mom".

Issa was adorable. Am curious as to how the depiction and cover-up of the drone attack and the admission of torture went down in the US.

One quibble - surely a returning POW (and his family) would have had more support? The military would have informed his wife, for one thing, that would have been dramatic enough. And he would never have been sent back to Iraq. I know he mentions it because he wants to run for Congress but the prospect of being sent to train/lecture to recruits would be most likely not something he'd want.

I loved it ! Only gripe is the use of lights on in the house - odd thing to get wound up about I know but once I noticed the amount of lamps burning away in each scene it started to distracted me ;)

Will post more sensible musings after bath time

I noticed that too, redlac. It happens all the time in The West Wing too, and once you notice it you keep on spotting it and wonder how high their electricity bills must be Grin

I've watched the whole series and really enjoyed it. Saul is my favourite, very well characterised. However I'm kind of not looking forward to series 2. Carrie will surely be out of the CIA for good now? So is it going to turn into some kind of soapy domestic drama that's all about whether she shags Damian Lewis again

Who's the CIA mole? Someone warned Faisel (sp?) not to drive to the house, and tipped him and Aileen off. Also the fountain bomb showed that someone tipped Walker off.

I wondered if it could be Galvez but maybe his speaking Arabic was too obvious as a clue. He was with Carrie tailing Faisel but could have contacted someone before they left.

Who else? Virgil has a soft spot for Carrie but his brother Max is a bit odd, perhaps therefore a bit too obvious?

Galvez was the only one to go up onto the roof of Aileen and Faisel's house. Was the Marine 1 helipad as a target a diversion?

DH and I reckon its David Estes the boss who could be the mole. I'm sure Carrie would carry on working against terrorism even if not allowed back into the CIA - Jack Bauer in 24 was not officially working for half of all the series, it seemed. We were hooked to this series and it seems like such a long time til the next one. I was really impressed at the strength of Carrie's character as a female lead, even though she did basically sleep with someone to get more information - but then I guess James Bond did the same thing! Claire Danes' acting in the last few episodes was just stunning.
