Corrie back story - can anyone help?

After a few years break I've only been watching Corrie again since the tram crash. Please could someone give me a quick rundown on what the story with Nigel Havers is? What did he do to Audrey and Peter?

I get that he's a conman, but it seems like whatever he did was really bad (considering that generally in 'soapland' pretty much any misdemeanour seems to be forgotten after about five minutes).

It's really bugging me that they haven't done any exposition (even though normally it really bugs me when they do this). I keep expecting someone to explain it all to Stella or Kylie but so far no-one has.

With Peter - he seduced Deirdre and then convinced her to let him mind the bookies for her while she nipped out (for a corkscrew I think, to open wine he had brought) and then he stamped some blank betting slips so he could fill them out once he knew the results of the races.

With Audrey - he convinced her they were going to move away together, she had everything packed up, think she had transferred money too, and then did a runner. Can't remember the full details but think he didn't rip her off as badly as he first intended. She was heartbroken, though.

He persuaded Audrey to sell her house and move to a Greek island with him, she was due to transfer the monies from selling her house to his account to pay for their new business adventure in Greece, he then disappeared with the money or so we thought, she rang the bank to stop the money going through, she said she was in time to stop the transaction. I always wondered if he had actually got the money from her?

When Dreary was working in the bookies he came in and forged a betting slip and conned about £4k (?) off Peter and almost put him out of business. He flirted with Dreary for a while to kind of get her on his side, they had a quick snog in the bookies. This was caught on CCTV, Peter showed the tape to Dreary, Ken, Audrey and Gail.

Hope that makes sense thats pretty much how I remember it but I could have left bits out!
