Here's a two-parter that shamelessly plucks every heartstring as it looks at three very different tales of adoption. Bill and Jane, from Shropshire, go to China to collect their new daughter, 18-month-old Kai Ya, one of many thousands of Chinese baby girls abandoned every year. In Romania, a British woman, Sarah, fosters Dylan, a young boy with autism whose mum decides she wants him back. And in the USA, a hollow-eyed Amy gives an emotional account of her family's adoption of two Siberian children, and its terrible outcome. You'll need a soul made of concrete not to be moved - assuming, that is, you can get past the frequently cloying narration by Sophie Okonedo and the lounge-music soundtrack.

I feel really guilty as I turned over after it showed the kids ties to the rails of their cots in Romania. I did turn it back once I had composed myself but I can't get the picture of the little ones out of my head I've just been into DS, given him a big kiss and thanked my lucky stars I have a gorgeous healthy baby xx

I often feel I should adopt a chinese baby girl. Dh wouldn't go for it though. Ds would love it.

I just feel sick, my tummy is doing a washing machine action. I knew I shouldn't have watched it but that isn't right is it. These things go on in the world and it's just crap. Can't give a home to 37,000 children so I will research internet tomorrow for a charity to support.

I felt like that and ended up with direct debits to Save The Children and the NSPCC, which helps. Still thinking about sponsoring a little girl somewhere.

The Romanian government is letting these children suffer. There are so many people wanting to adopt and could give these children loving caring safe environments - things every child has a right to. I will donate to a charity but it's just a drop in the ocean isn't it.

i just dont understand why they would let thousands of children suffer like that because of their stupid pride - they should allow international adoption - it would give their children loving homes and save their government money!

Look at www.goodrock.org.uk. You can sponsor a little girl or baby girl from China's orphanages. I remember reading about all the little girls years ago, and it broke my heart. Found out about it thru mumsnet. It is £18 per month to sponsor a child, you get letters/photos. And it is £10 for a baby girl.

It is run by a British lady called Jacqui who adopted a little girl, and it all started from there.

I too didn't want to watch the programme last night, but changed channels for a peek and then couldn't tear myself away. Romania is just heartbreaking.

I watched it it was horrible, those poor romanian babies and they're not allowed to be adopted outside the country - it's shocking! And we've allowed this country into the EU and they appear to have no human rights at all! And that american woman, as tragic as it was, seemed to show no remorse, no emotion, nothing!

I used to work for GoodRock and fully support it still. They try to get the babies adopted inside China, by couples who have no children or whose children have grown-up. They also work with the government and social services in this country to try and change the law. Jacqui is a wonderful woman!

but then omg which was worse the klids being where they are or what that couple done to the two they adopted,i was astounded that someone could be so cruel to children,i mean they ahd a full support team but rather than say they werent managing they continualy abusing the little boy till the eventually killed him,how very very sad
Then i watched stepfamilies just out of something to watch as im not part of a stepfamily but it came on and i watched it,low and behold more cruelty to a poor defensless child,what is this place about!!

is it repeated kanga .. I wanted to watch but it clashed with Steven Fry
