BBC News story

Think it's the right thing really, it hasn't been as consistent of late.

i've only gotten into west wing this series so i guess i'll be buying the box sets, etc.

also, i think it would be difficult for the series to go on under a new president. the current format, with half of the programmes at the west wing, and half out on the campaign trail isn't as good as it used to be.

Clayhead · 23/01/2006 17:37

lalaa, if you like this series then definitely try and watch the first 2 series at least - they are excellent.

Mind you, I always thought that it would have to end with the end of the Bartlet administration. It would be a different programme with a different president. (But that's also because I have thought all along that Vinick is the only logical successor to Bartlet. OK, so the focus has been more on Santos, but I saw 'the new Bartlet' as soon as Vinick was introduced with that business about cleaning your own shoes... that was pure Bartlet, surely? But a Republican WW? I don't think so!)

LaLaa... Definitely buy the box sets... We've watched them twice! Series 5 (after Aaron Sorkin left) was a bit of a low point, but I have found series 6 really good.

So has series 6 finished now on More4?

Clayhead · 23/01/2006 22:54

No, series 6 still on going on More4!

OP posts:
Ellbell · 24/01/2006 13:27

I've watched it on dvd and don't want to post any spoilers till it's finished on More4.

sis · 24/01/2006 13:33

Oh how sad although not entirely unexpected. Do you think we will get the series starring Geena Davis as the first female preident of the USA?

I agree with lalaa that the episodes in series six where they are on the road with the new candidates are nowhere nearly as good as a 'proper' WW episode.

tribpot · 24/01/2006 13:35

Very glad really - I am a huge WW fan and been disappointed with the direction it's taken since Aaron Sorkin left. There would have had to have been some very fancy footwork to explain how so many of the regular cast ended up back in their old jobs in a new administration, for starters.

Clayhead · 24/01/2006 16:35

tribpot, I agree completely.

Ellbell - I think there are 6 or 7 episodes left of series 6 to go on More4.

I also hate the short squeaky woman - does she stay until the end of the series?

OP posts:
Ellbell · 24/01/2006 16:56

Sadly, yes. God she is annoying! Why does Toby put up with her?

The campaign episodes get better. I found them boring at the beginning of series 6, but was fairly jumping up and down and shouting at the TV by the end!

Ellbell · 24/01/2006 16:57

I think they keep her in just for the novelty value of having her walking down a corridor talking to CJ.

sis · 24/01/2006 19:46

being a shortie myself, I like her!

Clayhead · 24/01/2006 21:02

It's not the short, it's the squeak!! She surely has the most annoying voice?!

It has to be said that CJ is very tall though, taller than most of the men in WW (CJ looks huge standing by Martin Sheen and John Spencer).

OP posts:
tribpot · 24/01/2006 21:31

I agree. As a hobbit myself, I am perfectly prepared to applaud another short-arse in public life, but she is so highly annoying I wish I was as tall as CJ so I could simply step on her with one well-heeled Manolo

Btw, CJ standing next to Big Bird was mildly amusing, but I'm glad they didn't introduce him as a regular character so we could see it time and again.

sis · 25/01/2006 13:23

Oh but I think she is funny too. I am clearly in a very small minority here!

tribpot · 25/01/2006 13:25

Next you'll be telling us you like Marina (Is she still in it, btw, highly highly annoying random assistant?)

sis · 25/01/2006 20:41

oh, don't remember Marina but I do also like Margaret or as they always bellow, 'MARGARET!'

sansouci · 25/01/2006 20:42

I got series 1 for Xmas & am loving it. Don't tell me anything else bad!

tribpot · 25/01/2006 22:42

Margaret is fabulous. Sansouci, you have nothing to worry about. What we are arguing about is like types of caviar. Some may not be to your liking but it's still head and shoulders above anything else you are going to taste. (Actually I don't like caviar, but you know what I mean). TWW is, in my opinion, the finest TV drama that has ever been shown, and that is why I am not happy with what's happened in the later series. They are still good, but they are not excellent. ENJOY.

lilibet · 26/01/2006 12:31

Does anyone know where they are up to in Series 7 in America?

tribpot · 26/01/2006 14:55

There are a couple of good fan sites with episode guides, lilibet, start here - they have just shown episode 12 of season 7.

Anteater · 02/02/2006 13:13

Just finished season 6, nearly back to its early best, but when does the season 7 come out on dvd?

bosscat · 02/02/2006 13:15

Oh no. This has totally ruined my day

Anteater · 02/02/2006 15:08

Season 7 anybody?

Anteater · 02/02/2006 22:02

nobody?
