when Steve had the wall built to seperate his house into 2 'flats' each with their own entrance.

Tracey said it was against Council regulations to convert a house without planning permission. (Ken told her)

Surely Dodgy Owen wouldn't have done the job without the relevant PP? He knew what Steve was up to, all cloak'n'dagger, getting Traceylove out of the way.

Yes I thought that too - Also, how is Steve managing to wash/go to toilet etc as apparently all the tiny corrie houses seem to have up to 3 beds and a bathroom upstairs!

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 06/02/2012 21:46

S'not a proper conversion though - it's not against regs to build a random flimsy partition in your house.

He went to the pub for a shower tonight - maybe they still have a loo in the yard Grin

GandTiceandaSprout · 07/02/2012 13:48

It's utterly ridiculous. I mean, it's meant to be a bit comedic (please tell me that's a word! Grin ) but ffs. It could not possibly happen. And it was done so fast & decorated so fast.
I believe the actress who plays Hailey used to be a man in real life more than I believe this storyline. It's a step too far Corrie writers. Take Note!

whatkungfuthat · 07/02/2012 15:00

They carefully filmed him talking to Tracey at the back door last night with the outside loo visible over her shoulder. This is going to drag on month after tedious month isn't it?

ProfYaffle · 08/02/2012 06:54

Agree GandT, when I was a kid I seem to remember watching exactly the same plot in some 70's sitcom (whose name I can't recall). v v poor.

EdithWeston · 08/02/2012 07:19

Worse than that, it's unnecessary. Steve has been told - totally inaccurately - that only Tracy can apply for an annulment.

She was only released from prison for a totally inaccurate reason.

Her stillbirths were not treated as such.

All in all, the normal law does not apply to Tracy.

I just wish she'd leave. This level of inaccuracy and disregard fo the basic underpinnings of how life in UK works has become excessive.

Corrie has "jumped the shark".

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 08/02/2012 07:25

ProfYaffle something similar was done in Steptoe and Son, the son divided every room down the middle, including the kitchen and cooker, and the front room, where he partitioned it and cut a hole for the TV to sit in the middle. IIRC it backfired when the buttons to change channels were on Old Man Steptoe's side. Grin

FaginShmagin · 08/02/2012 07:30

Applauds Edith.

Well said Grin

ProfYaffle · 08/02/2012 08:04

So not dissimilar to the whole fuse box/thermostat thing then? Hmm Grin

Honestly, I've watched Corrie my whole life and never been closer to just giving up on it.

whatkungfuthat · 08/02/2012 08:19

Philip Schofield was telling that soap woman yesterday that he had lots of tweets about how unrealistic the trial was, they are not rooting anything in reality atm.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 08/02/2012 08:40

That Steptoe episode is comedy gold :o

"I've got the law on my side."
"And I've got the knobs on my side!"

:o

ProfYaffle · 08/02/2012 09:16

I won't be able to watch Tracy and Steve without the Steptoe music playing in my head now!

GandTiceandaSprout · 08/02/2012 13:16

My mum shared a room with her sister. The chalked a line down the middle.
