How do you think the corrie rape story will play out now?

Surely they have to do something to encourage people to come forward and report rape? At the moment I can see why it would put people off with the not guilty verdict.

To answer question as put in the title: ideally by the sacking of whoever was responsible for this travesty.

I think the producers made the wrong decision.

I think he will strike again, or maybe someone will spot the story in the paper and come forward as another victom.

I do hope it all comes good, so many people are rapped by their partners and feel that it was their fault or the man ha a right to do what they did, i speak from expereance, i did'nt even addmit to myself that i ha been raped until a year or so after (i was very young when it happened).

I think there is something deeply wrong with society if people would base their real-life decisions on the outcome of a storyline in a soap. Seriously - it's not real.

I get that people think it should be true to life, but actually, it has been - the rape conviction rate is exceptionally low. So what is it people want - either you want it to be true to life or you want it to have a happy outcome - you can't have it both ways.

But we know she WAS raped. And some people do see a correlation with real life.

And judging by that article linked to above, it's probably not even realistic.

Or would people now argue that women across the country will go out and murder people who are aquitted of rape because it happened in corrie?

There's a reason why I stopped watching this shite years ago - most of it is crap, far-fetched and not worth switching on. But in truth a straightforward rape trial with a guilty verdict isn't enough - you have to have drama, and far better to portray the character as someone out to get his accuser and then end up dead with everyone wondering who done it.

If people make a correlation between real life and this shit then clearly they need to get out more.

And if people are so angered by a storyline that they feel there need to be sackings over it then clearly they need to switch it off.

I was sure he was going to be found guilty. I wanted to slap his mother and Sally but I suppose it shows how well they are acting their part to get under my skin so much

I've watched Corrie all my life (mum was addicted and it passed on to me) and I've ALWAYS wanted to slap Sally Webster

Thinking about this a bit more since a thread the other day...

I'm now wondering if it is a good thing that someone who is blatantly to us guilty has gotten away with it, as if someone who saw it (or even just knows about the storyline) happens to be on a jury in future they might be a bit more sceptical of the accused's defence strategy...?

Tracy was also blatantly guilty, and was freed on a "storyline" that was wrong in law.

Some of the exchanges about seeking an annulment are also wrong in law.

They really don't seem to care about accuracy. And a rape storyline should not ave been attempted with such inadequacies at the helm. We just need it over, as fast as possible and with no more cliches or tired repetitions. I'm not holding my breath though.
