Why is it now so long?
Why are those kids dubbed?
Why did all the extra dialogue get put in? (not the Dave Lamb development, I quite liked that)
How many ways are there to hide in a tree trunk?

Didn't mind it too much when it was all enigmatic and zen, but now it's
Tedious. And that bit where the boy does that frightening face while doing tangle stick shakey shake is just plain weird editing.

Explain yourselves.

:o

BerryLellow · 25/01/2012 20:28

this might help

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 25/01/2012 20:29

I thought it was going to be like the Five star question on Going Live...

BerryLellow · 25/01/2012 20:32

What was that?

BertieBotts · 25/01/2012 20:33

I think DS liked the Dave Lamb. When Waybuloo came on the other day he said "Mummy, I want the one with the man in."

BertieBotts · 25/01/2012 20:34

I would like to know why the kids are dubbed though. They are creepy, especially the fake laughter.

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 25/01/2012 20:35

Berry it was something along the lines of 'why are you so fucking shit?'

MissHonkover · 25/01/2012 22:05

Or yes, I could have asked the Five Star question. Grin

Kids are dubbed so that they can be dubbed into other languages.

So, if you look carefully, their mouths don't quite match the words being spoken, even in English.

When they overdub for foreign markets, it still looks odd but even then the words don't match the lip movements.

Much like many of the Ambi Pur type ads you get - what the lips next time - they ain't 'speaking' english'! More like a mumble that's movememnt will pass as other languages when dubbed

I feel like I'm not explaining this very well!

MissHonkover · 25/01/2012 22:15

So the kids are filmed without sound?

Our foreign policy is worse than I thought if we're exporting Waybuloo.

DS2 (4yrs) says "noooo, not this rubbish" and switches the telly off, mostly on the basis that "they have wierd eyes and its not even proper ballet"
Anyone want to argue with that? Smile

leeloo1 · 29/01/2012 16:35

I thought there was something about the filming where it was said it was dubbed because the children were Welsh and the producers were worried that people wouldn't understand the accents.

[so glad DS outgrew that show emoticon!]

MissHonkover · 29/01/2012 17:09

Interesting. Yes, they're clearly speaking English, so I was curious as to why they were dubbed. Much prefer the kids on Driver Dan, they're directed much more successfully.

I remember reading an article a while back saying that Waybuloo was filmed in a large warehouse in Glasgow. If so, then the children are probably Glaswegian. I'll see if I can find it.

No idea if this link'll work, but here it is.

2tired2bewitty · 29/01/2012 22:53

It's made by a Canadian company so I guess the kids in it have forrin accents and they dub them into the Queen's best Grin

I always wonder what happens when small child actor is told "ooh, you're going to be on Waybaloo" and then they get there and discover that they can't actually see the piplings and it's all blue screen action :(

stressheaderic · 29/01/2012 22:55

I cocking hate Waybuloo. Just don't get it. The music is so annoying - and why can't the children speak properly? Cheebies? WTAF?
Luckily, DD feels the same.

We're more of a Night Garden/Teletubbies kind of folk.

2tired2bewitty · 29/01/2012 22:55

oh!

tethersend · 29/01/2012 23:01

Who's in charge of wardrobe? Stevie Wonder?

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 29/01/2012 23:03

Ds has always hated this show.

Dd bloody loves it im thinking of taking her back and asking for a refund

MintChocAddict · 29/01/2012 23:19

Stevie McWonder.

YankNCock · 29/01/2012 23:24

As I said on another thread, that giant space between their eyes looks like the perfect place to plant a boot. Can't stand that show.
