I am surprised at how rough the coppers are with the low life.

Anyone else shocked?

Yes! That one guy shoving the skinny no teeth guy up the street! Terrible.

ggirl · 16/01/2012 21:36

Did think he was provoking that drunk.

Would you rather the cops left the drunk bloke on the street to be abusive to passers by, urinate in public and vomit in shop doorways?

Gapants · 16/01/2012 21:39

No, but I think pushing him up a hill was a shit way to deal with it.

scurryfunge · 16/01/2012 21:43

Some people do not respond to polite requests.

JoantheFennel · 16/01/2012 21:43

Surprised how brutal the police were particularly with the 14 year old girl. If this is what they allow to be filmed what goes on off camera?

passthechocolates · 16/01/2012 21:43

He was shoving him to put space between himself and a vile drunk, he fell over because he was so drunk and too busy arguing with the copper, if he had just left when asked first time he would never have got arrested.

mrsotter · 16/01/2012 21:44

I think a day in the life of a copper would change some views Wink

ggirl · 16/01/2012 21:51

I think they do a great job , god knows I could never be a copper.

Also surprised at the throwing of that girl on the floor.

Am not criticising .

That fight in the street was awful.... drunk teenagers and parents, delightful. When the coppers arrive they have to take control, take decisive action, grappling with a fat 14 year old drunk is more dangerous then getting her off balance and restraining her on the floor - but yes it looks worse then it is.

Gapants · 16/01/2012 21:58

Do not get me wrong. I am happy for the police to use reasonable force when the situation required it. I like the police, I have nothing but praise for them.

I think he should have put his arm up his back and marched him up the street rather than pushing him. Looked untidy.

ggirl · 16/01/2012 21:58

How do they cope with all that day to day aggression..guess that's why I am not one. Grin

passthechocolates are you a copper?

OP posts:
MrsJamesMartin · 16/01/2012 22:00

Would not do their job for a million quid.

The fighting in the street was a disgrace, those adults allowed their children to be subject to and witness to that crap.

Shows them for the low lives they are.

passthechocolates · 16/01/2012 22:01

Wink Have to say, women make better coppers, because we use our verbal communication as we don't have the braun!

ggirl · 16/01/2012 22:02

yes I can see that

but I'm sure that was a woman who threw the drunken girl down!

OP posts:
passthechocolates · 16/01/2012 22:04

I would have done the same, that 14 year old was twice the size of me! She pulled her off balance to restrain her on the floor - safest for the copper, sorry!

ggirl · 16/01/2012 22:05

No don't apologise ..glad you explained it . Looked worse than it was.

OP posts:
mrsotter · 16/01/2012 22:07

Yes thanks for the explanation, just read it to dh who also said it looked extreme! Now we understand we agree!

scurryfunge · 16/01/2012 22:08

You have to prevent further offences and contain the person so that they do not cause a risk to anyone else - the public, the police and themselves. If that means putting them on their arse, then so be it.

passthechocolates · 16/01/2012 22:09

It is a trained way to get people on the floor, it always shocks people. But experience says get in there take control, or you get whacked!

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/01/2012 22:11

Grin hello scurry...

i bloody hate public order....hate it, but having said that, i am good at it.

just watching it on ch 4 plus 1....so far i think this series has been a fairly honest depiction of what happens.

chocolatespiders · 16/01/2012 22:12

I enjoyed last weeks- it made me see police in a much better light... Hated this weeks so turned it off- My Ipod was much more appealing.

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/01/2012 22:16
  • reserving the right to retract that statement if it goes tits up....
scurryfunge · 16/01/2012 22:17

Hi!
Hope you are well Vicar.

I'm now too old for the public order stuff - I have done my bit. Lost count of the times I have been punched, kicked, spat at, driven at, sworn at and generally abused.
Time for a rest!

passthechocolates · 16/01/2012 22:20

It is a good programme, pretty much how it is in every force... having worked the nights of the riots, it was a brief but good insight into what went on and how we felt
