My favourite MC quote ever (which was also pointed out on here by another poster at the time!)

Just saw an ad for the new series. Starts Tuesday at 9pm.

VERY Excited. .

I never usually manage to keep up with the 'threads about the show' though as I tend to watch it a few days later due to shift work.

Wonder if they'll be adjusting the format at all (I hated the first couple of episodes last year where they had the auditions).

OOOh I lurve MC, especially buttery biscuit base Greg.
I didn't see much of the last series apart from the woo woman with her street food. I kept forgetting it was on and didn't have iPlayer.
This year, my loins are girded and I'll set the thing to record the whole series.

PastGrace · 14/01/2012 18:23

Nooo, Kreecher, it's got to be every time!

SardineQueen · 14/01/2012 18:36

Oh how exciting thank you for the heads up!

That Greg is a greedy bastard isn't he. When a pud comes out and he loads a spoon about a metre high then shovels it all in yumming and gurning....

Still love MC though!

Davros · 14/01/2012 20:03

According to Radio Times they have gone very much back to the previous format, hooray. Can't wait but will have to watch a day later so DD can see it too.

SardineQueen · 14/01/2012 20:24

I must say though I love Michel Roux Jr. He is a great presenter / judge.

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 14/01/2012 20:35

Ohhh Im so pleased this is starting again. They had the Professional series recently so I didn't know if we would get a new regular series.
I love, love, love this programme. Sardine, totally agree about Greg. They're very cagey, IMO, about what his job actually is! He just seems to shovel it in and repeat what Michel Roux or whoever has just said...! Would LOVE his job!

SardineQueen · 14/01/2012 20:56

The professional series is really good, I hope the amateur series is up to the mark.

Incidentally if anyone has sky / is at home a lot - I got quite caught up in australian masterchef (it went on for months and then I went and missed the final episode Angry) and now there is an american thing that is similar and for professional chefs called top chef...

(Can you tell I am SAHM Grin)

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 14/01/2012 21:00

Oh I've seen an episode of the Aussie one - I was a bit underwhelmed really. They were challenged to do BBQ food and it just didnt have the same....I dunno....elegance our version does. I sound like a food snob there - I love watching it, but when it comes to cooking I'm very much a "meat n spuds" type!

SardineQueen · 14/01/2012 21:02

I felt like that with the first couple of australian ones - it has a very different feel. Much more amateur, they have chefs in to do demonstrations which is interesting, and very toucy/feely/emotional. Getting their families in and stuff, all bursting into tears and being gushing a lot. But it really grew on me, I got very into it indeed. And as it seemed to go on for about 9 years, I felt that I personally knew all the contestants Blush

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 14/01/2012 21:14

I get like that with the contestants too!
Have to say, the moment I turned off from the Aussie one was when they had to cook ,in order to stay in the contest, a..........PAVLOVA!
I'm not keen on all that family, gushy stuff. The final of MC always pisses me off as they go into great detail about the contestants' family lives and I just think, "Just bloody cook!"

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/01/2012 15:34

I saw the Dalai Lama on the Aus one. Very random. One woman was so deity struck she grizzled.

SardineQueen · 15/01/2012 16:44

That was hilarious when they were all standing around sobbing. Great stuff Grin

aNewOne · 15/01/2012 19:52

ooh so excited.
But MrsKitty I gotta disagree - I loved the auditions and hope they do that again.

MrsKitty · 15/01/2012 22:49

anewone we'll have to agree to disagree on that, as if the auditions are on then I might have to sit out the first couple of episodes Shock probably an empty threat to myself

I preferred it with the auditions too.
