As far as I can see a very arrogant man who can't see that he is just as fundamentalist in his non-belief as the religious fundamentalists he is railing against.

In principle I should agree with his views but he's just so annoying!

I think he is a little smug, but I agreed with everyhting he said. But I'm a born-again athiest so naturally I would!!

He's extremely clever and entitled to be a bit smug..he isn't of course, he's just about as sure as you can get and knows exactly what he's talking about.

Problem is, those evangelicals etc he spoke to were also as sure as you get & thought they knew what they were talking about too .

Not sure if religion is the root of all evil or if human nature is.....

Pumpernickel, he believes what he does because of evidence not faith. That's the point.

You're right Pruni, he's raging against all fundamentalists who would seek to curtail and control the way everyone lives their lives. His 'belief' (again based on hard evidence) has no such ambition. It's completely progressive and open.

i do see where he's coming from but he's so aggressive with the people he talks to, and uses really emotional language designed, imo, to provoke the people he's interviewing. it would be more effective for me if he was less inflammatory - taking the higher moral ground, so to speak

I think it is fabulous thought provoking tv.
Some folks (lasy weeks one)in the US denying the earths existence beyond 10,000 years ago
Would be funny if it were not real....
I think it is his goal to point out the flaw in fundamentalism, when its taken to extremes. I mean people use scriptures as defence in murder for heavens sake.

He is willfully argumentative, I agree. But there's a bit of a twinkle in his eye I think. I agree about him banging his head against a brick wall too - if nothing else it shows that fundamentalists can't be reasoned with. I think he's being very brave (and brazen) in the current climate.

i dont think he is agressive or smug. considering the invective non believers are often subjected too.
it can range from pity to downright being seen as agents of the dark side

i for one enjoy his progs. its nice seeing ones points of view represented

I didn't see him as smug and certainly not aggressive. If he came across that way then in his defence I would guess he was driven to fight fire with fire. Would taking the moral high ground get his points across?

This programme is thought provoking and I am grateful to have something decent to watch on TV for a change.
