Is anyone else looking forward to this one? I just saw the trailers tonight and I can't wait Grin I have the books this is based on and love them - they're one of the few autobiographies I have ever re-read and they are just so good. Miranda Hart is in the series, I don't like her comedy stuff and her own series, but I think she has to be playing Chummy and she is just so right for the role! I reckon she'll be really good - it is great casting like Robbie C as Hagrid I can't imagine anyone else doing it Grin It's been a long, long time since I actually got excited over a TV show and actually made plans to watch it rather than just catching stuff by accident.

My mum and I are sooo looking forward to it too :)
We've loved the books. Miranda looks good in the trailers - just hope I can take her seriously and not think of her doing her no-bra breast clap thing Grin

have seen the first couple of eps, it's proper heartwarming stuff.

whens it on?

MrsBovary · 13/01/2012 12:36

Yes, when is it on? I didn't mind the first book (not so much the second), so might take a quick glance at it.

Shakey1500 · 13/01/2012 12:36

Yes I'm looking forward to it having seen the trailer this morning. Didn't realise it was based on literature. Not that I get time to read these days Grin

When is it on?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/01/2012 13:19

I think it starts on Sunday. DD is greatly looking forward to it. She is, in her own words, MH's greatest living fan.

Popoozle · 13/01/2012 13:23

I love the books too - have re-read them more than five times once. Can't wait for the series - just hope I'm not disappointed! BBC1 8pm Sunday for those asking when it's on.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/01/2012 13:32

MH isn't in it until ep2, i think, at which point things take a turn for the funner. it's basically the original all creatures great and small with east end women as the cows. like i say, i enjoyed it.

littleducks · 13/01/2012 13:46

Have just sky plussed this, really loved the books

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/01/2012 13:57

I've just realised, my mum gave me a copy of the first? book. I thought it was utter bilge. I loathe the way cock-er-ney speech is recorded.
I'll give the series a go, but as soon as anyone says love a duck I'm off.

Just watched it on Iplayer. It is incredible to see how things have developed in such a short amount of time, after all in the grand scheme of things 55 years isn't that long.
I've always loved social history and a few months before I got pregnant I read "birth: a history" by Tina Cassidy (amazing boo, but don't read it if you're pregnant or just had a baby) and this series reminded me a bit of it because of what I've mentioned before.
Will definitely be looking forward to the next episode and will look out for the book.
