On Eastenders... is that how much funerals really cost, or is that just in the east ehhhhhnd?

My mums was about £2100 and we had to have a larger plot as mum was obese but that included church, coffin , cars and grave for 100 years

I thought it was a lot too

I thought they were about 2 or 3 grand!!!!

It must be the horses with feathered plumes and floral tributes. I did snigger a little bit when David said "erm, just Pat" when the funeral director told them they charge by the letter.

I think my brother's was about 3 grand and it was a very basic funeral; only one hearse for the coffin, no funeral cars, no wreaths or anything like that, very basic coffin, a cremation, no headstone or plaque or anything, plus church thanksgiving service. I think the buffet alone cost c.£1k and that was with no alcohol.

My mother in law's was £3,000 for the most basic funeral with a tea/buffet at the legion after. She had and we have very little spare cash.

My mother's funeral 7 years ago was £4,500.

My brother's funeral which was 6 weeks before my mum's was £5,000 but his was a massive affair.

My Dads funeral was quite a big one.

Hearse, 3 cars, church, grave, do afterwards etc. I came to about £5000 altogether IIRC. That was about a 18mnths ago.

MILs funeral was about 6 months ago, wasn't as big & came to about £2700 altogether.

I have no idea how they would manage to spend £15000 on a funeral, I was rather surprised as well.
