The lovely Mr Blumenthal (or Blue Mental he was called on Mock The Week) is back on our small screens.

Mad as a box of frogs.

Turning his meat every 15 seconds.

Even as a long term vegetarian I'm hooked Blush

I thought it was fab. Very slick. Some of his dishes still looked a bit of a faff but might have a go at that chilli.

Where is it? Which side is it on?

Its great to watch someone who is so totally dedicated to what they do whether it be cooking or plumbing.

C4, 8pm I think. Or might be 9, on Wednesdays. Love it.

Thanks. I can see it now. How to Cook Like Heston. I'll watch it on 4oD.

Have to admit I did raise an eyebrow and slightly snort at the cooking instructions on a leg of M&S lamb the other day and thought to hell with it I'll do it like Heston. I roasted it in his 'very slow low temp cook' way and it turned out brilliantly.

I am totally trying that Chilli and also going to have a go at cooking a steak that way.

I then watched the Baker Brothers or whatever it was called and just thought "SOD OFF!"

Just watched it.

Letting the steak warm up first to room temp is a really good thing to do. Not sure I can be bothered with every 15 seconds turning but I like to use a smoking hot iron griddle pan and turn 4 - 5 times while a steak is cooking.

That burger method and the chilli recipe looked very good and a pressure cooker is something I have been toying with getting for a while. My mother used to macerate her veg to death in a pressure cooker and I always shied away from using one because of that bad memory of soggy veg but for stews it is a very good tool I think.

Watched it with DH and we loved it too. Was sort of expecting his suggestions to be a real faff that I would never bother with, but I think that if you planned things and didn't try and do it all on one day they would be well worth the effort from time to time.

I couldn't believe I could get so excited about eggs. Grin

There is going to be a mad rush on thermometers.
