Military Wives Choir-heading for Christmas No 1

I've started this thread for those who haven't seen the program & possibly don't know why this song is so important & to push the CD.

This choir was brought together by Gareth Malone to give the wives & GF's left behind a distraction and focus. It was a great success & now they have a CD released to raise money for two charities the Royal British Legion & SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families) who do a fantastic amount to help the injured and bereaved from all conflicts past & present.

The lyrics to the song come from the love letters exchanged between the choir wives & their LO's.

Even if it's not your usual cup of tea PLEASE consider buying a copy as an extra prezzie for yourself,or family.

The other artists vying for the Christmas No1 have the potential to have other number ones in the future (hopefully) but this is a one of chance for the MWC & these worthy charities.

Thanks for reading- some of the Miliwives are MN-ers so lets show our support!

I didn't even know they had released it as a single. Ive just downloaded from Amazon MP3, will that count in terms of them placing in the charts?

Is there any difference between getting it from ITunes or Amazon? Its cheaper on ITunes so I bought it, but I'm happy to buy again from Amazon if it makes a difference.

Chris Moyles played it this morning on Radio One! Greg James does the midweek chart tomorrow so we can see where it is then.

Chris said that 'Gareth Malone and the Military Wives' sounds like Gareth is taking them all away on a mucky weekend. Shock Grin

Now I have to create a diversion at 2pm so I can watch TOTP on Christmas day!

Still got to keep up the momentum though, more sales mean more for the 2 lovely charities!

And he appeared to give all the ladies a CHristmas prezzie, the sweetie!

GM just did an interview with Chris Tarrant on R2 on the SW show.

I can't believe I missed it on R1 this morning. Sparklingbaubles do you know what time it was on?

The song is so lovely, I cry everytime I hear it, I love the Military Wives choir, they were so amazing, the Adele song was amazing too. Wonder if any of them are MNetters? Xmas Grin

Just doing a rough calculation they've rasied over £100k already from sales, with the VAT waiver that will be a brilliant sum for the charities.

Plus I presume a small amount of royalties evey time it's played again?
(Not sure how it works)

It would be great if it became a Christmas classic & got played every year!
