DH has recorded it & I started watching it, feeling terribly churned up; was OK until the first bit of film where the water is coming into town & people are running away, just yards from it

Couldn't bear to watch any more - does it get worse...?

Sad

Yep, I watched it all.

Definitely one of the grimmest and horrifying things I've seen. I know that sounds a bit over the top, but to see the actual footage was so frightening, I just sat in front of the telly like this Shock Sad.

Did you watch the rest eventually ? (Sorry, bit late on reply) I do think it got worse - there was a bit filmed by someone in a car - I was literally glued to the screen, I can't believe he managed to survive.

Just sitting there and willing people to run just a bit faster...very sad indeed, but utterly compelling Sad

Oh thanks for replying, Stanton - you've confirmed my fears though Sad.

I haven't watched any more but I think I may have seen the car footage at the time, I remember a clip where the water came over the seawall at the car & washed over the windscreen, & then the car was floating. The water was quite clean at that point.

Not sure I have the guts to watch the rest - maybe when someone else is in the room I'll manage it

Those poor souls...

Do you ever watch NHK news? It's the Japanese channel, on 507 on Sky (only in HD now though so unavailable if you don't have it) They have fairly frequent magazine programmes updating on the people affected, still living in shelters etc. That's very moving to watch too.

I watched it and cried through it all. Knowing that the people who were walking along the road most likely got swept away and drowned was heartbreaking.
The footage of entire houses floating down the road was something you had to see to believe.
