I thought it was quite interesting that Charlie Brooker would write this and wonder if it's payback for his wife? I really enjoyed it.

He wrote it with his wife!

Did he, I thought he did but looked for her name in the credits and it was a different huq, I then thought maybe it was her brother... Xmas Grin I'm so dim sometimes! I liked it and thought it was clever too, as dark as it was. What are your thoughts on what it was about. I felt it was a dig at Simon Cowell and how he just doesn't get the madness that is manufactured pop.

bucketbetty · 11/12/2011 23:06

Disclaimer: I don't mind the odd bit of manufactured pop (now that I'm a middle aged woman)

I thought it was good, very much like a modern take on 1984. I enjoyed it more than last weeks!

RyokoTheRedNosedLamedear · 11/12/2011 23:06

I thought it was crappy, it's been done to death a million times, (only without the avatars).

Missed a trick I think not revealing at the end that the whole thing takes place on a space station, unlike the many things that it ripped off it failed to give any back story/ the great reveal at the end. it was just him looking at the world out the window or maybe just a nice view on a screen.

Flisspaps · 11/12/2011 23:06

Reality Konnie Huq was also a Blue Peter presenter though. Quite a change!

glencoco · 11/12/2011 23:07

Oh sorry merlincat, I didn't read your post before I wrote mine!

limitedperiodonly · 11/12/2011 23:08

Absolute bollocks.

The best thing about it was that I thought it had crashed my Sky+ and it hadn't.

Can anyone explain what the Konnie Huq it was about?

Snorbs · 11/12/2011 23:19

I thought this one was weaker, less original and far less thought-provoking than last week's.

Llareggub · 11/12/2011 23:32

I thought it was fantastic. I thought it was more like Brave New World meets X Factor though. Loved the lead actor; saw him last in a BBC3 drama about angels and zombies/scary ghosts and thought him rather marvellous in that too.

Flisspaps · 11/12/2011 23:36

DH is watching it on +1. I am just glad there is no pig fucking involved in this one. We didn't watch last week yet the thought has been enough to leave me feeling slightly traumatised.

Moln · 11/12/2011 23:36

well that was wierd.

Too many points attempted to be put across in one go, and none of the really making any sort of impact

RyokoTheRedNosedLamedear · 11/12/2011 23:46

Thats because there was absolutely no context for the points.

it was all so outdated using the whole XBL avatar theme and converting life into a means of gaining achievements that you use as cash is outdated, should have gone for the phones instead, everyone has an iphone hammed into their skull endlessly buying shitty apps, updating the world on everything they do and being tracked their whole lives, it would have made more of a point and been recognisable to more people for what it is based on.

caramelwaffle · 11/12/2011 23:56

It didn't push any boundaries.

caramelwaffle · 11/12/2011 23:56

(like the Christmas NN Ryoko)

Moln · 12/12/2011 00:05

that's it Ryoko, i didn't get the count thng for a while (maybe i'm stupid!) but i would ave got it were there was a update with everything they did

the other thng i didn't get was why they HAD to watch the screens

also i couln't work out why the horrible grey guy that was jibing the yellow people about being fat, when he was a bit of a podge himself (i do realised that people jibe others about something that are guilty of themsleves but I didn't understand why he wasn't a yellow himslef)

RyokoTheRedNosedLamedear · 12/12/2011 00:16

Because he was one of the power workers, peddling the bikes that provide power to the civilisation, the yellow suits where cleaners.

I suppose the screen watching shit was to get your mind of thinking no one is allowed to think, mainly because if you think about things you wouldn't buy half the shit you do, plus you would all so start to wonder what the hell is the point in all this crap?

which is what I thought at the end, it had no point in the end, if he had killed himself that would have been a point.

mycatsaysach · 12/12/2011 00:18

didn't see all of it - i like him but found it a bit misogynistic

LivingDead · 12/12/2011 01:03

Enjoyed that one, it was misogynistic, because well totalitarian societies do tend to be on the Woman hating side, on the whole.

Moln · 12/12/2011 08:30

oh right i got the idea that the yellows where those in society who had put on weight, seeing he was always calling them fat, ugly etc. Pointing out how in todays society looks and body shape are condsidered so important, more important than the person (that is it is thought now by society at large not necessarily the individual)
