ive never heard such crap! What is all that bollocks about 2 up 2 downs not being big enough ?!? And no one wanting to live in them.

It's bollocks - The biggest growth sector is single households.

And I have a family in a two up two down - a small 250k terrace cottage in the south east. If it's good enough down here why would I not live in one oop North Hmm

And those houses were nicer and bigger than mine - 14ft wide Edwardian frontage instead of my 10 foot wide house.

Just watching this and completely agree!!!
I am in London and have just paid a fortune for something only a tiny bit bigger!!!

I had an idea.

People move in do all their own repairs and dont pay rent for 6/12 months.

After the 6/12 month period everything will be checked and if all is well they stay and pay rent if they have not done anything they get evicted.

Some people will abuse this but I bet there will be an awful lot that would jump at the idea.

...another thought...
if you have a row of houses like this, that are too small. why not just knock two into one, or three into two. no need to change the exterior for that.

I am looking at areas like this at the moment, it really is a scandal, there are areas in newcastle where families were originally given a compulsory purchase order in 1999, forced to move out in 2004 and their houses are either still standing empty or have been bulldozed and is now empty land awaiting development.
Thats 13 years that families could have had housing.

It makesme sooo Angry. And the councils are great at saying people dont want to live in these areas, without actually asking the people!
