Love this ! It's excellent! It's great when they have hundreds of dollars worth of goods & only pay a few cents for it---genius!!

katz · 28/11/2011 21:37

I'm impressed but don't quite understand, like the one now why would you need 400 bottles of sports drinks?

katz · 28/11/2011 21:59

Sky240 disc. Real time although just finishing but will be on +1.

I know that's what I always think when they 'Pre-order' 200 boxes of cereal! I think it's like an addiction as they are getting these things for free...so therefore why not get as many as they can. I'm a coupon lover after watching the shows but I am not that extreme! Smile

PontyMython · 29/11/2011 09:31

Can't watch this as I don't have Sky (maybe I should get a coupon for it?) but I think it's often stemming from poverty. When you grow up not having much it can create a yearning to have stuff, even if you don't really need it. Same with hoarding, possibly. Also saving money can make you feel like you're 'winning' so may appeal to a competitive person? I don't know really, I do like bargain hunting although mostly with stuff for the DCs. I find it so hard to walk past a sale on toys or clothes, or stuff on amazon/ebay... I feel like I need to get it even though I had no intention of buying that product before Blush

virgiltracey · 29/11/2011 09:32

God wouldn't it be amazing if we could do it over here? I can see why they keep doing it. Most of the stuff won't go off so why not have it whilst they can?

I would have the most enormous stockpile if the shops here operated in the same way.

LoveBeingAFirework · 29/11/2011 09:34

There is a uk version being shown on Thursday night. I haven't seen this one though.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2011 09:34

Why? Cos it makes hilarious telly. Grin And the suspense at the till!!

I bet the store staff are really Hmm when they arrive though.

virgiltracey · 29/11/2011 09:39

I can't see how you can do it here. I've been on the moneysavingexpert forums and nobody on there seems to be able to manage either. We don't have the double up from the shops, we certainly wouldn't get credit back if your coupon value took you into credit, and most shops are very sniffy about taking coupons. plus where do you get them from?

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2011 09:42

It takes half an hour for them to process one coupon for 10p off round here. It has to be thoroughly inspected, check that you have bought said item, then the coupon has to be scribbled on............

katz · 29/11/2011 13:06

can't see it working here mainly as most stores have a policy of vouchers not working with items on special offer which seems to be the premise for the american ones.

Sparkling - I love watching it!

Will have to watch the UK one on thursday

I watched it when it was first on and I know they are saving money but i couldnt be arsed to have 100s of bottles of shampoo in my house , some of them are really into and treat it like a business

wifey6 · 29/11/2011 16:12

I love when they say...'we have enough boxes of cereal here to feed our family of 5 for the next 15 months!' surely there are expiry dates on these things so a lot would be wasted...unless donated to shelters etc. I do love watching it though & love the check-out bit!

katz · 29/11/2011 16:29

Last night she had enough cake mix to make birthday cakes for 6 children's birthdays for the next 16 years!

I like the bit where 'there's a problem' at the till!! But it always ends ok. Phew. I can't bear 10 minutes in a supermarket though let alone 7 bloody hours!

ednurse · 30/11/2011 10:08

Ohhhh I can't find when this programme is on :( we have Discovery Real Time but have a Virgin box rather than Sky....maybe that's the problem.

virgiltracey · 30/11/2011 11:51

monday nights I think! I'm pretty sure the channel is the same whether you have sky or virgin

katz · 30/11/2011 20:20

was monday at 9
