Anyone else love this series? And are wondering what Sue, Tony, Jackie et al are up to?
I am!

I dip in and out through the years but DD asked me about it the other night as she has been discussing it in her sociology class.

It is the ultimate reality show and it's fascinating as I started watching at 21 Up.

oh goodness, I've always loved this programme Smile

was it Tony who had the immortal line about cabbage?

(was 49 up shown? I don't remember it)

I love this, my Mum got me into it when I was very small. They're only a couple of years older than her, so she's followed them through her whole life.

Can't wait to tell her it's back again Smile

But what about poor Neil? The one who grew up in a children's home and wanted to be a bus driver. He had tough times in his adulthood. I think last time he was into local politics but seemed like he still had issues. He always makes me sad.

Neil is doing OK by the sound of it Smile

it was Symon who didn't like cabbage

[hshock] I watched 28 up shortly after starting my Sociology A level. God iz old!

hocuspontas · 25/10/2011 23:40

They are my age so I feel like we are growing old together! I started watching at 28-up but that year they repeated all the old ones so I don't think I've missed any. They had such a cross-section of children I think that's what makes it so interesting. Can't wait for the next one.

My favourite is Sue, such a good head on her shoulders. I always felt sorry for Simon but wife no. 2 is lovely. He should stop feeling so unlovable!
Jackie was very defensive in 49up re her 'situation' so I do hope she returns.
Yes Neil, I always worried about him because in either 35/42up he mentioned being 'in this place' which I took to mean in some sort of institution. It's a blink and you'll miss it moment.
How fab was Bruce to help him out!
I hope Tony made things up to his wife, she was right, she didn't deserve him cheating on her.
Oh, I could bore for England on this programme, I love it!

Thanks for that Ponders. I remember how kind Bruce was to him. Even though he was heavily involved in politics, I still felt really sorry for him because he seemed to find it hard to fit in to society and make relationships with people. I've never forgotten him. I remember when he was 21/28? and he was living in a caravan and he was filmed beside a stream and he was so full of despair. I really hope he's happy.
