X Factor: If Frankie Cocozza was a girl....

...would her behaviour be so well received?
Audition 1 girl 18 walks onto stage and announces her love for boys to prove the point she reveals the tattooed names of 6 boys on her behind.
It's the 21st Century, would the crowd and judges have whooped so enthusiastically?
Sure she has a great personality and is full of fun however her singing is pretty weak and when challenged with being ousted from the competition she cheers herself up with a night out with the girls, drinking far too much and 'allegedly' bedding 5 men in one night.
Would her actions, in this 21st Century have proved her comeback, a resurgence of her strength, her determination, kept her in the competition?
Somehow I doubt it; somehow I doubt she would've got through the first audition.
These double standards p*ss me off no end.

Totally agree!

He's a dirty scank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DamnDeDoubtance · 26/10/2011 14:40

His hair is a better singer than he is.

Agree, I was saying the same thing to DH. I also think its not right the way the show exploits anyones sexuality at all, male or femaile and at 18 he is still young. Does he think his sexuality and bad lad image define him on the show or in life. I think its hurtful that he is repeatedly called a bad singer (he is) but he is kept in because of his stud credentials. Maybe Frankie doesn't care and is loving the attention and persona the show is building for him but it is quite damaging that the message that is being put across to everyone watching the show is based around glorifying his sexuality.

and can you also imagine if the hypothetical girl punched the air and shouted 'fookin ave it!!' after getting through to the next show

vmcd28 · 27/10/2011 14:50

Agreed! He was treated like a lovable cheeky chap, and they all thought it was hilarious that he had names tattooed on his arse. Awful.

PumpkinSizedEmmaRoyd · 27/10/2011 15:15

BUT.. they did put Chloe Mafia through the other year who was allegedly a drug taking ex hooker. She also couldn't sing and would give Frankie a run for his money in the skanky stakes.
