To think that Amy Pond would be moving heaven and earth to find her lost daughter?

Geeky I know but I've been tuning in to Doctor Who to see exactly when Amy starts insisting they find her kidnapped daughter. She doesn't seem bothered!!

Is it because of the time space continuum that she's accepted her bereavement?

Perhaps she realised that River is the most annoying character and so decides to keep well away.

I am far more interested in how she managed to keep her hair all gorgeous and swishy.

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 10:08

It's not offensive.

Just in the wrong place.

That's all.

biddysmama · 15/09/2011 10:26

i was wondering on saturday when she changed time after the young amy said "do it for rory" if it was me "you will never see your baby again" would have done it for me!

northernruth · 15/09/2011 10:54

Ah ok sorry for wrong place posting. Not that familiar with the boards. Hardly the worst misuse of AIBU that I've seen tho Wink

I think they have different Amy timelines and somewhere there is a wailing and gnashing Amy but we haven't seen her yet.
However I am also keen to know how she keeps her hair so swishy.

Insomnia11 · 15/09/2011 11:07

River is great. I'd like to be Alex Kingston when I grow up please :)

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 15/09/2011 11:09

Funny, I was only thinking about this earlier this morning . They hardly ever even mention the baby! I'm hopeful that it will resolve later in the season and they'll be reunited with the baby because that would be a lovely season ending. Smile

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 11:11

Thing is, they can't be reunited with the baby til they are replaced as the Doctor's companions.

They can't be gallavanting around the space and time while changing nappies.

cornsylk · 15/09/2011 11:15

I would like to be Alex Kingston now.

northernruth · 15/09/2011 12:00

Trillian, they just need appropriate childcare

Ooh, cornsylk, I like that, very clever!

BalloonSlayer · 15/09/2011 12:11

Grin at Trill's lorgnettes out again.

I nearly posted this thread myself, as I was saying this to DH when we saw the last episode.

If I had a baby and it was removed for forcible adoption, someone guaranteeing that he or she would grow successfully into adulthood, into someone I liked would be no frigging comfort at all.

Also - last episode, when she was moaning about waiting for 36 years, why didn't Rory say "well I waited two thousand bloody years for YOU." I mean, you would, wouldn't you?

northernruth · 15/09/2011 15:21

Balloon Slayer, I am so with you on that point about Rory!!! i said as much!

teejwood · 15/09/2011 15:48

ahhhh. i said it the other thread and i'll say it again here. when elements of the emotional connection between the characters seem so wrong, when the plot seems wonky, when the behaviour of the characters themselves is so inconsistent, we are left with two possibilities:
a) Moffat can't hold together being showrunner as well as we had hoped or
b) there is a reason for all these contradictions - in that perhaps the characters are not who we think they are when they think they are.
whether it's gangers/alternate timestreams/ parallel universes, who knows?
i'm hoping for b)

teejwood · 15/09/2011 15:53

also i luffs river, have done ever since the library episodes.

i luff the fact my ds thinks she is cool (although he does have a crush on amy) and the fact my dd now believes that turning a pirouette, blasting nasty aliens and saving the day all the same time absolutely falls within the remit of wimmen's work.

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 15:54

b would be nice

northernruth · 15/09/2011 16:07

b would be nice, I agree. But I still don't understand how River was on the loose in the library episode, or how she knew David Tennant was the Doctor. I need to up my nerd quotient I think.

OP posts:
fiodyl · 15/09/2011 16:10

she might grow up into River eventually but she spends several years in the orphanage inside that spacesuit scared of the aliens, what kind of mother would want that for her baby?
Have a feeling saving Melody and therefore preventing the Doctors death will be the series finale. Anyway he can't die cos the actor has signed up for another 2 series

teejwood · 15/09/2011 16:19

fiodyl - agree completely. rule 1 - moffat lies. rule 2 - the doctor lies. rule 3 - river lies. and rule 4 - the bbc don;t want this to stop anytime soon so the chances of killing off the doctor are.... ummmm.... zilch. of course, whether is a version or duplicate of the doctor - well.....

northern again two possible choices:
a) river gains her pardon and is then free to become the professor of archaeology we first met or
b) it's a timeline thing where a different version of river never ends up being banged up in the first place....

Quenelle · 15/09/2011 16:22

I said exactly this to a friend at the weekend.

I haven't seen last Saturday's episode yet though so I won't be reading the rest of this thread yet.

teejwood · 15/09/2011 16:22

also - river knew DT was the doctor for 2/3 reasons:
a) she has pictures of all his faces in the blue book and
b) she sent him a message on psychic paper so expected the doctor to be there
possible third reason:
c) moffat indicated that he believed 10 and river had adventures after the library, so she had already met him in that incarnation before the library - from her perspective. we just never saw it on screen. there was evidence to back this up in the library episodes as she did not query DT's face/appearance, but did exclaim about how young his eyes were....
