can anyone recommend a dvd tv series for dh and I to take on holiday?

we are off at the end of the month and I want to buy a cheap box set for us to watch but have no inspiration.

We have watched in the past few years prison break (OK but not special), lost (love it!), x files (old un but good un), Jonathan creek (missed it first time round and quite enjoyed it), bleak house (enjoyed), the lost room, the 4400, and are currently watching the killing on TV. DH is sci fi (esp stargate) obsessed (but I'm not ). We have a 6mo dd so chances are we don't be able to sit and concentrate on anything for any decent length of time so something that you don't have to concentrate on every second would be good.

Any ideas?

Firefly? made by same lot as buffy! a western set in space... don't be put off!!! clever writing, funny, tragic, a touch of sci-fi, angst, unresolved sexual tension!!! it's got the lot! A great bit of escapism!

Spaced!? Fab hilarious and surreal!!!

oooo! i love stargate!! tell your dh i'll happily watch all 10 seasons with him... however it's only as i lust after the delectable Dr Daniel Jackson... with a little Jack O'Neill on the side!!!! ;)

Twin Peaks - always a winner!

I second Modern Family - best thing since Fawlty Towers IMO, it's so well written.

The Wire is phenomenal, but requires proper concentration.

30 Rock is silly-funny and doesnt require too much mental effort.

Currently addicted to E.R., but the two are in no way similar except that they are both american.

The Wire will keep you entertained - my fave (and I'm currently watching US & Danish versions of the Killing).

I watched Jericho KIndkim! Very cheesed off that it was pulled mid-way through. I now make sure that any US shows I watch have been re-commissioned. Had to check about Falling Skies cos it seemed a bit dodgy in the same way.

Game of Thrones - brilliant fantasy series.

Dexter has been a fave for many series now.
