SATC Selfish self obsessed fake and spoilt women

I know it's been going years, but I've only just started watching it, cruising around daytime tv, when feeding etc.
Is there an irony I am missing? Miranda and Samantha don't annoy me so much as at least there is an honesty and intelligence about them. But Carrie!?? She is just a horrible person I would hate to have as a friend. She is so manipulative and so incredibly into herself. It is really annoying me. I shouldn't watch it. Why is she 'popular' in popular culture? I don't get it. She just makes me cringe.

dear god that scene in SATC2 where samantha is throwing condoms around half dressed in the souk was just AWFUL. I mean the tv show was sharp and full of insight, the second film is a travesty.

She doesn't do nudity which might be the problem for men

Now...I am a SATC fan and I ahve to say as the clothes got better the womens independence (and wit) seemed to reduce ,excluding Miranda who always had balls.

SJP's prominence as Executive Producer or whatever she was clearly shows in the latter series, her storylines dominated more and she adopted a really annoying way of talking and overacting. I preferred her quirkier style in the early shows, less groomed. (I know its not real, btw)

I went off it after the first couple of series, it all started to get a bit samey.
The first film was OK but the second is one of the worst films I've ever seen. There actually is no story to it.

Love SATC, Miranda is my fave ...closely followed by Sammy Jo! Yes Carrie is uber annoying and an absolute, doormat! As for Charlote, well she's just naive!

Well, it was good at the time. Its very dated now, I think. Loved the clothes, loved New York. Never liked Carrie. I hated the way he messed her around and yet she still ended up marrying him after all those years. The films passed time on long flights. They didnt offend me. SJP may go on about how unlike Carrie she is but, she had a huge input into that show and she made Carrie into what she was.

Sjp is a great actress, if you find her annoying watch "spinning into butter"

That will change your view and show you how talented an actor she is (and how unlike carrie she is)

she was very nice on Who do you think you are? so was Kim Catteral. Shes my favourite.

I've just bought the box set, nearly finished season 2. It's not high brow and hasn't revolutionized feminism but it is entertaining and has some genuinely funny moments.
Carrie is my least favourite character too, funnily enough. She's a shit writer. Also dislike how she seems to be, for some reason, the 'best friend' to each of the others - they don't seem to talk to each other much without her.

It's silly but fun, maybe because it's nice to imagine a life like that...rich, successful and impossibly thin despite seemingly doing nothing but eating out at fancy restaurants and drinking fancy cocktails. Must be all the sex burning off those calories.

I haven't seen the second movie, but want to...it looks so cringingly bad it could almost be good.

caught it by chance much later as i had always avoided it for some reason when it first came out. Loved the series (especially earlier) , just seemed to work in quirky little half hour slots. Didn't work as a movie, still haven't watched SATC2 and might not after what's been said here. Charlotte was my favourite and yes Carrie was annoying.
