I know this is a long shot as it was approx 2-3 years ago but im hoping it has stuck in someone else memory aswell as mine.

A while ago there was a lady on it who had no table whatsoever and had to literally borrow everything from her neighbour's, the guests were all sat around the table on different height chairs, she cooked those little chickens for the main course and burnt them (i think). All i specifically remember is for dessert she served 2 scoops of ice cream and a few maltesers on the top and was pleased as punch with herself!

I was just eating maltesers in work now and telling someone about it and thought id try to find it if anyone remembers, it was one of those classic episodes though! just cant remember where they were all from, all their faces were a picture when she wheeled out the desserts!

Don't remember that one but who could forget:

  • Snake pooing on the table
  • Man with a remote control fart machine
  • Really nice guy who won and donated the money to charity as his sister was either ill or had died - then on the credits it said that he had died since filming
  • Really really annoying woman who had a 'houseboy' and kept rubbing her rich husband (not literally) in everyones' face
  • Woman who had her cats' ashes in urns in the living room
  • Pigs trotters
  • Lady who 'borrowed' a home (she didn't have one) and cooked roadkill
  • And the many many anoying people who go on and seem to dislike most types of food (its a cookery programme, you nit!)

Has anyone ever just brought int he food from M&S and heated it up?

FairyArmadillo · 22/07/2011 16:03

I want to know which one was the Mumsnetter! Remember a thread from December but I missed the "conclusion" as I went on holiday.

FairyArmadillo · 22/07/2011 16:04

Sorry OP- that doesn't answer your question!

timmyinatizzy · 22/07/2011 19:35

I think remember watching that one. Wasn't she a hippy that didn't have anywhere to live and lived out of a suitcase?? IIRC didn't she win?

And yes the pooing snake was a classic.

BustersOfDoom · 22/07/2011 19:43

I think that might have been Vera from Leeds. It was the first ever series. Did she also make a strawberry coulis to accompany the dessert by diluting some jam with hot water?

mumatron · 22/07/2011 19:44

The one where she got the restaurant across the road to pass food through the kitchen window was a good one.

Can't remember the one your asking about though op.

Iirc the one mntter didn't come across too well. I didn't see it though so I could be wrong.

GothAnneGeddes · 23/07/2011 00:05

Yes, it was the jam and water. Very funny!

dearprudence · 23/07/2011 00:13

I don't remember the malteser lady, but I do remember the mumsnetter who was going on it but then I lost track of whether she actually did it and whether it's been aired. Please does anyone know?

HazeltheMcWitch · 23/07/2011 00:22

God I love CDWM, and I could have told you about the coulis too. I laughed about it so much with a friend, that she served me... ice cream with maltesers and coulis.

Yep, the MN-er did go on, there was a thread about it as it was aired. With her!!! HERE is the series, Vanessa was the MN-er. It was a good set. Good as in some of the people were shockingly dreadful and evil, so made good tv. Don't think they all made great dinner companions however...

HazeltheMcWitch · 23/07/2011 00:26

And HERE is Vera's episode also!

lillybloom · 23/07/2011 10:13

Does anyone remember the WAG who bought everything ready made from Harvey Nicks in Leeds. She passed it off as her own and won! She was an excellnet host though.

FairyArmadillo · 23/07/2011 10:14

I remember Vanessa. She was nomad who borrowed a home and served them insects? So she was the Mumsnetter? I really wasn't expecting that from her thread!

AnneTwacky · 23/07/2011 15:03

How about the one where the hostess went upstairs to bed and fell asleep in the middle of dinner.

hocuspontas · 23/07/2011 15:38

I have got hazy memories of a man with a bare chest laying on the dining table. Did the guests have to eat food off him or something? Was there a pubic hair invovled?

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 23/07/2011 15:41

AnneTwacky - I seem to remember that one. She was hammered, wasn't she?!

iklboo · 23/07/2011 15:56

Wasn't there a guy who scored a total of seven or something? He swore at the other guests & threw the dessert out of the window?

Pleb1969 · 23/07/2011 17:25

just watched an old episode (think it is in Yorkshire somewhere) and the tight bitch who turned up every night empty handed has just scored this chap 3 because 'he forgot my wine' - she only drinks White Zinfandel apparently. FFS! Take a bottle with you then, squeaky arse!

SootySweepandSue · 23/07/2011 20:00

Yes the lady who went upstairs and slept served up Old El Paso chicken fajitas!!!! Was literally crying with laughter at it.

BustersOfDoom · 23/07/2011 20:27

Ah yes pissed really tired Dawn from Preston. The Preston programme was one of the best!

Also in my top ten is the Derby one with a female clown with a pudding phobia who hides pudding in her handbag, pockets and in a tissue she chucks under the table and Stoke on Trent with a totally up herself woman who spends £1K a month on her dogs and had so much botox her face was tighter than Barry Manilow's but denied she'd ever had anything done.

FairyArmadillo · 23/07/2011 20:30

She wasn't a very happy clown was she? She was miserable!

mumatron · 23/07/2011 20:33

what about the woman from swansea (i think) who had mannequins all around her house? and a flag pole.

bizzare

BustersOfDoom · 23/07/2011 20:48

She was a clown with some serious ishoos! She had such funny and downright odd ideas about food that I worried for her 5 kids. And wondered why on earth she'd gone on CDWM.

I remember the one with the chap who died - Spencer - shortly after filming. All the guests were nice except one young girl who lived in a huge house courtesy of her much older banker boyfried. She didn't work, had loads of horses, a serious superiority complex and called all the other contestants peasants. I don't think it ever occurred to her that her boyfried could have booted her out without a bean.

I watch far too much tv Grin

salempickles · 01/08/2011 09:30

YES YES YES, It was Vera,, ah its all come flooding back to me now, Im off to youtube her again, borrowing the chairs from neighbours!!!! and making her famous punch that everyone hated! thank you!!

GeekLove · 01/08/2011 09:47

The link just took mento the main CDWM website. Also Vera's episode isn't showing up on YouTube either.

Could someone please link.'Thanks.

HazeltheMcWitch · 01/08/2011 11:56

Ahh, for some reason the link defaults to the most recent CDWM eps.
Just navigate to Season 1, Episode 11 and you will learn how to make coulis...
