Love this show - it also makes me relieved that ds isnt so bad after all! When I moan that he woke up once last night I remember these poor parents and stop moaning!

I saw the last 20 mins of this last night, never seen it before have just acquired a Freeview box. Can someone fill me in. Are these families living in a house 'Big Brother' style? If so I thought it was a bit odd making a big deal of trying to get the children to sleep all night/go to sleep by themselves in strange bedrooms. My DSs are very good sleepers, go off by themselves quite happily but if we go away anywhere they are awful, can't get them to go to sleep in a strange room/bed, takes ages. I realise they were tackling bigger behavioural problems that this but just wondered.

Also the little boy with the curly hair that was having a tantrum, towards the end of the show must admit I just wanted to pick him up, give him a cuddle and stick him in his buggy to go for a walk, calm down and hopefully have a little sleep. He seemed tired and overwrought. Again, strange surroundings.

now don't get me wrong, i like a good thong as much as the next guy but i didn't want to see it thrust in my face on a parenting show where i'm trying to jot down solutions to ds's sleep and eat probs (though not nearly severe and yes, emily05, it can make one feel better about one's child)

well MrsSpoon, I guess it is kinda big brother style and yes, i wondered about the strange bed/strange surroundings thing but I think the main goal of this is for the parents to get first hand one on one help from Tanya Byron

Yes, this programme is great - watched it last series and there is a lot of good advice in there. Mind you these are extreme cases and they make you feel good about your own kids!!!

That boy shouting his mom at bedtime was heartbreaking.

oh yes, the boy in the bed. that was heartbreaking and dw said she would have just gone to him but i think it was just words and all would be forgotten by morning. there case was crazy and it needed sorting out.

why couldn't the dad just go along with what Tanya was saying?! I hate that. He's gone on a national telly show with a proven pro and he still won't take advice. just do what she says and hope to hell it works FGS.

yup. it was pretty bad and i really like that family. the kids seemed nice enough and the dad seemed to be genuinely bothered and wanting change.

absolutely. there was other factors weren't there. I can certainly see how they got in that position, extreme as it was.

Hmmm. You cant help but make a snap judgement at first (well i cant - one of my MAJOR faults). How can they allow all THREE in their bed but a hysterectomies (and mastectomies) can be such dewomanising experiences. I really feel for them both.

I think Tanya Byron is great actually though. And im ashamed to say i shed a tear in the last series when she got called away coz her dad had died and but still came back later to make sure one family was still doing ok.

But it wasn't even their bed..it was the floor!!

That was the bit I couldn't do, sleep on the floor each night!

I also agree with DC - why won't Mia's (sp?) dad try something new as suggested by Tanya? He couldn't even bring himself to look at the helmet, he had a huge problem with it.

oh for sure. i immediately thought 'ridiculous, letting that happen' but as you get further into these shows you realise there are other issues contributing to the problem.

but i'll say it again, thong's DH was pissing me off. just take the bloody advice and stop being difficult. what he's doing obviously wasn't working or they wouldn't be there in the first place. pah!

'typical' I think the deaf girls parents said this was the last chance or split up. Maybe mr thong is too keen on fixing the problems IYSWIM
