thats a shame, i like him. i dont like the numbers girl she makes me vomit

sharbie · 24/05/2011 23:38

he's quite good - a bit bland though.yh agree about rachel - she dresses like a 6 yr old.

I can't work out the Countdown policy on Rachel - these are the options I've come up with:

  1. Is she told to dress like that and has no choice?
  1. Is she given a choice by the producers but encouraged to dress like that for the male viewers?
  1. Does she choose to dress like that - because she likes those clothes!?
  1. Surely it's not even remotely concievable, that a female graduate of her age, could not be conscious of her strangely sexualised TV presence and not be consciously playing up to it?
  1. She could say no if she wanted to.

Bring back Carol.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 25/05/2011 11:30

It certainly isn't the same since Carol left and Richard Whitely died. The two Deses were good hosts, but Jeff isn't anywhere near as good. Rachel's dresses beggar belief sometimes - but Carol's weren't always much better, iirc.

Jo Brand or Dr Phil Hammond would both be good choices to take over, sharbie.

BTW - my mum went on Countdown. She lost, but was playing someone who went on to win 7 games, and she came closest to beating him. Dsis and I went to watch the filming - it was great!

greentown · 25/05/2011 11:39

Agreed - although I prefer Jeff to the Deses.

On the Rachel/Carol front, I would venture that at least if Carol ever went awry in the fashion stakes, one always thought, at least she chose that herself. It seemed as though she was her own woman, choosing her own clothes.

I think Rachel's too much of a puppet-dolly for the titillation of some of the viewers and I can't quite work out who's pulling the strings - her or the producers.

Smile i'd love to go on it

maybe one day

I auditioned twice and failed to get through. Blush Of course, I do very well sat on my sofa with the dog on my feet, and my notebook on my lap. Perhaps that's the answer - they can bring the auditions to me! Grin

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 17:15

No great loss that's for sure.

Rachel - she varies between looking like she should be stood on a street corner and attending pre-school... can't work it out at all.

greentown · 25/05/2011 17:51

ChippingIn - exactly! and often both at the same time. Not entirely sure exactly what she's trying to communicate - probably exactly that!

hocuspontas · 25/05/2011 17:57

I like Jeff and thought he and Rachel were in for the duration. When people keep leaving I don't like it! I think that Rachel dresses to give the old fogies in the audience a reason for carrying on living.

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 18:25

But it's not even sexy - it's either slapperish or like she's gone into the kids section... it's frankly quite disturbing Grin

sharbie · 25/05/2011 18:28

just weird isn't it?

I agree with all comments about that gal in maths corner. Her outfits are ridiculous, it is absurd that someone with her brains should be told/decide she has to dress like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Its horrendous

MardyBra · 25/05/2011 18:33

Another big vote for Jo Brand. Why does it have to be bloke in the main seat anyway? And could we have some male totty dressing up in tight shorts for the numbers?

sharbie · 25/05/2011 18:36

why not - who do you suggest mardy??
