I love that he's in Lost AND The OC. I swear he popped up on Ally McBeal as well. More power to Jim Robinson. He must be minted by now.

TragicallyHip · 24/05/2011 22:32

He is EVERYWHERE! I find it hilarious actually!

He has been in Ugly Betty too. Don't remember him in Lost. Surely Desperate Housewives is next?

He was some shadowy senior FBI figure in X Files who was plotting against Mulder.

sharbie · 24/05/2011 22:55

MsFC · 24/05/2011 22:56

And he was the VoiceOver in Pushing Daisies...

TragicallyHip · 24/05/2011 22:58

Who wasn't plotting against Mulder? Grin

I guess it's been quite a while since I have seen X Files.

So he isn't Aussie...interesting

TragicallyHip · 24/05/2011 22:59

A few years ago I was on the tube watching a 24 with him in and recalling a conversation me and DH had had the night before about him being everywhere, I looked up and lo and behold there was a poster advertising him in Spamalot right in front of me too! He has an extremely good agent I suspect.

Plus I've never understood the whole 'non-Americans playing Americans' thing in US dramas, is it because they are cheaper? I'm pretty sure there's not a shortage of aspiring actors in the US is there and yet so often major roles are played by overseas actors putting on the accent.

whatshallmynamebe · 25/05/2011 19:12

He seems to have a bit part in most US dramas, I can't add any to those already mentioned. It was Jim Dale (from the Carry Ons) who was the voice over on Pushing Daisies though Grin, as opposed to Alan Dale aka Jim from Neighbours

MigratingCoconuts · 25/05/2011 20:47

I liked him best in star treck (inserection I think?) and also playing a mean aussie in a piss take of 'west side story' in Flight of the Concords.

ZacharyQuack · 25/05/2011 23:48

Alan Dale is a kiwi. Well NZ are claiming him anyway Wink

He played the Aussie prime minister in Flight of the Conchords. You can tell he's a Kiwi because he played the Aussie PM as an arsehole.

TragicallyHip · 26/05/2011 09:28

I had to google Jim Dale..

I had a read on his wiki page, he really has been in a lot. A few characters dying from heart attacks too! I will ask Dh about Flight of the Concords, he has seen more than I have. I can normally tell the difference between a Aussie and Kiwi accent.

If you see Alan Dale in a show you know it's going to be a good one Wink

I don't remember him at all in WW, and I thought I knew that backwards! Enlighten me, someone!

It is a sport, isnt it - spotting him in totally different settings. I like him though - he acts well and I find him believeable in everything. Especailly Lost...

MigratingCoconuts · 26/05/2011 20:38

here he is in Flight of the Conchords:
