The Good Wife - question

I love the Good Wife, but something bothers me - is State's Attorney really that much of a big deal that there would be so much interest in Peter's private life and surrounding the campaign?

DH and I have just been talking about what a state's attorney actually is. I'm not convinced it's that big a deal, to be honest - any Yanks about?

That ending was brilliant. Poor Alicia :( We've never seen her show emotion like that before. Quite obvious they couldn't arrange for Chris Noth to appear, unfortunately!

I think that the thing with SA is that it's a stepping stone to other things, and everyone knows it. Everyone knows that you don't JUST run for SA - you do it before running for Senator, or Governer, or whatever.

Plus, Peter was a very popular SA, and Alicia was even more popular.
