she has been drinking milk without her mothers knowledge

gregssausageroll · 13/05/2011 20:54

aaah ok. Is there a reason why she is going it?

Not sure gregs but I think it must have something to do with wanting to see her Dad more often and maybe get him and her Mum back together.

minibmw2010 · 14/05/2011 15:18

Apparently she's been drinking milk knowing she has an allergy to it as she wants some attention from all of them, as she feels Max has been getting all the attention lately.

meditrina · 14/05/2011 15:31

She can't yet know she's allergic to it. The first episode of projectile vomiting was last week, and she isn't being seen at an allergy clinic until this next week.

Bizarre storyline - I don't see how one acute episode of vomiting leads to suspected allergy as lead diagnosis in the first place, let alone advice given on exclusion diet before any investigations have been carried out.

K999 · 14/05/2011 15:40

Lol Meditrina ....you need to get out more Grin

braveandcrazy · 14/05/2011 15:59

Meditrina the doc told them to avoid dairy especially milk while they waited for the allergy tests as it was the most likely cause.

I need to get out more too....

meditrina · 15/05/2011 07:29

That was said, but it was off the cuff "advice" based on nothing at all. Once again, very poor attention to medical accuracy - another area in which Corrie has gone badly downhill.

How many times do you see on here advice about not starting exclusion diets without either/both careful observation or actual allergen testing?

She's how old? One episode of projectile vomiting? This is not how allergies first present themselves, and is typically indicative of some sort of blockage/torsion in the GI tract.

If they want to stay medically credible, then this will need to be a mis-diagnosis storyline.

redvelvetmooncupcake · 15/05/2011 08:08

OMG they need to sort out their research, Ashley's vasectomy ridiculousnous could have been nixed with one bloody google. Becky's miscarriages were dreadfully handled as well.
Sally's cancer was quite well-done though, her appointments seemed fairly reminiscent of the ones I accompanied my mother to.

The reappearance of Marcus is a bit confusing as well, I must have missed something. Why was he hanging around with Violet who behaved like such a cowbag to his one true love Sean? I do like Marcus though.

And has anyone else noticed that as the quality of Becky's acting gets worse and worse (though the character is way past her sell-by date), Tracy is actually getting a bit better? I thought she was beyond redemption but she's tolerable just now.

meditrina · 15/05/2011 13:07

I was wondering if Marcus has reappeared with the vague idea of reuniting with Sean, but my guess is that poor Sean's hopes will be blighted when Marcus sets eyes on Ken's grandson.

whatkungfuthat · 15/05/2011 16:02

I agree about Becky but Tracy will never be tolerable to me.

BBwannaB · 15/05/2011 19:47

I thought maybe Tracy was poisoning her in Munchausens type scenario, but I only watch about 1 episode a week and MN at the same time, so struggle to keep up. Grin

whatkungfuthat · 16/05/2011 10:26

They showed Amy getting up in the night and sneaking a drink of milk. It seems crazy that an severe dairy allergy has just appeared overnight, the other week she was eating ice-cream in Blackpool with no adverse effect Confused

EssexGurl · 17/05/2011 17:44

It is a bit pants that she has suddenly developed a milk allergy overnight but that is the world of soaps. In my view she is trying to get Tracy and Steve back together. When she was genuinely ill first time round, Steve dropped everything to go to the hospital. So, she is now secretly drinking milk knowing it will make her ill and ensuring that Steve will be round all the time. Becky is leaving - so maybe it will work???

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/05/2011 17:48

They don't follow up very well either longer term, remember Tracey having a kidney transplant about 15 years ago, no reference to it, or medication, or effects, ever.

David conveniently developed epilepsy a few months ago and seems to have been cured instantly.

EdithWeston · 17/05/2011 23:09

Yes, it's annoying that they have seemingly abandoned the impact of her kidney transplant.

The machiavellian Amy plot does have a kind of logic, but it doesn't make proper sense because a) it's medically wrong and b) it means she's jettisoning the years of care from Becky in favour of a mother she wasn't too keen to be with only a few weeks ago. I would be very disappointed in that as a plot. Tracey doing something along the lines of Munchausens by proxy (to wind Steve in again) or a misdiagnosis of a dangerous torsion leading to a bigger medical drama (again throwing Steve and Tracey together at a time of heightened emotion) would either be much preferable story lines.
