To say that House of Cards is a one-man show does not in any way diminish the contributions of other cast members. But the series belongs to the magnificent Ian Richardson, who gave us a TV villain second to none. Fifteen years after its first broadcast on BBC1, his knowing asides to camera, in Andrew Davies's caustic and witty dramatisation of Michael Dobbs's novel, are still spellbinding.
