Is series 2 of the Sopranos as good as the first?

Yes yes yes! I have watched all series (think there are 6) and they are all fab. In fact me and DP watched all of them on DVD over the course of 6 months and we used to really look forward to them! Hit amazon and buy the box set.

I think one series was a bit weaker, maybe series 4 or 5, but it was still better than 95 percent of anything else on tv.
The only thing I have enjoyed as much as Sopranos is Mad Men.
