Having been criticised last year for a lurid story about bludgeoned prostitutes, Lynda La Plante keeps it simple this time: a man vanishes into thin air while shopping. Craggy DCS Walker and perky DCI Connor look into it, but their efforts don't satisfy the man's distraught wife, whose interference threatens to derail the investigation. Buried somewhere in this three-hour marathon (it concludes tomorrow) is a harrowing story about how cruelly frustrating missing-person cases are, for the police and for relatives. While the race-against-time story trundles along well enough, there's nothing new here. For detective drama junkies only.

Too derivative of The Vanishing by half and Michael Feast on caricature villain autopilot. I did think it was dreadful actually

marina, you are right, it was dreadful not least because of victoria smurfit's impression of a chunk of pine. I just can't help it though...I keep watching crap things....aaaghhghh.
