My DS was seriously ill at 6 months and had open heart surgery. I do think I give in to him a bit (i.e I let him have a couple of biscuits a day Shock), but I balance that with decent food at meal times. The fact he was ill is no excuse to feed him all that crap IMO.

I can fully understand the wanting to spoil after everything he has been through, but that doesn't excuse it imo - DS was so ill at 8 weeks but I wouldnt use that as an excuse for anything personally.

I think with the help they will get there though, they are desperate to but have got on the wrong path which is easy to do.

Of course he isn't going to eat dinner or healthy snacks if they give in like that, taking chocolate to toddler group, surely she knows that's not going to help Confused

Believe me, my kids eat some crap. More than a lot on here do - they have crisps and candy every day. However they also have 3 balanced meals and at least 5 portions of fruit and veg as well.

oh and I'm a single mum in a council estate too.

OMFG I'm overweight and eat crap but seriously, my diet is perfection compared to theirs. How can you have a child who has never tasted a pear?

I'm a single mum on benefits and there is no way I could afford fast food every night. I hardly order fast food at all and cook from scratch. No idea how she affords it. Would you have me and my toddler and baby starve absolutely "fabulous"?

Surely they should know more than most how lucky they are to have him healthy now, giving him that stuff is just going to make him ill in the future and it'll be their fault Sad

I'm hoping at least some of this is exaggerated for tv!
