John O'Sullivan has died

The creator of such classics as Only Fools & Horses and Just Good Friends.
Feeling quite sad about it. Thought he was a fantastic writer and was watching him only this morning talking on one of those OF&H top moments programmes. Sad

so sad and just as the second rock and chips is about to air. He was a brilliant writer. Loved only fools, used to love just good friends as well. He will be sadly missed i have no doubt. Sad

What a shame as I was hoping he would write 1 more episode with Del in the grandad role. I love only fools and horses, every episode is fantastic.

The man was a genius, people rave (quite rightly) aobut del boy and Rodney, but the characters performances were brought to life by Sullivan's fantastic writing. As del would say-

OF&H has always been popular and understandably but I loved Just Good Friends and Dear John in my younger days. Dear John has just been rerun on GOLD and I really enjoyed it. Likewise JGF. A very high hit rate of successful sitcom writing.

plumbummum - I read an interview with sullivan once and he said he was in a hotel room and saw the plastic shower caps that some hotels provide, with the words "bonnet de douche" written on the wrapper,and he thought "del would say that" and then he went on to write some classic delisms.

sad :( sit coms now are cringingly bad!

i watched dear john on youtube, was hilarious. glad they are re-showing on gold.
