This is on Discovery health tomorrow (fri) at 10pm.
Its about a couple with 14 kids and another on the way. I have to watch out of pure amazement! I wonder how many bathrooms they have!

I went to school with someone who was one of 15!

I think they're married and happy so I'm not knocking them. Still have to watch!

bloody hell - will have to give that one a watch.

Used to be normal didn't it. We have relatives who are 12 kids in a family and one with 10. All older now though.

my great gran and her two sister had 63 children between them.

They didn't all live tho.

Evidence from countries where there is no reliable contraception shows that the average woman will have 9 pregnancies before she dies (early )

My great grandmother died in childbirth leaving 12 children orphaned (GGF's ship had gone down in WW1) Grandfather was only 2! I remember my grandmother saying how pleased she was that she managed to stick to 6 and telling me who lucky we were to have easily available contraception.
So I guess it use to be common due to lack of choice.
I'll watch with interest!

A woman at our school has 12.
Homemama, we take contraception for granted don't we?
It's a sobering thought.

Actually if I'd started younger I would love to have had six. I just don't think my body would forgive me if I got pregnant again. (Nor would my dh).

Have this this programme before. Not only do they have 14 kids they are all home schooled and they are buidling a house as well! Real inspiration!

flamesparrow · 04/11/2005 10:53

They are up to 16 now...

Just got round to watching this as it was on sky planner.

It was amazing how organised they were and how well behaved the kids are. But I did find it a little sad that there 16yr old son was told he shouldn't be looking to date but to find a life partner. Also their 13yr old daughter's longing was to have a big enough laundry room in order to do the washing.
