Shayne reached the final 30 in Pop Idol before getting the boot.
Brenda is a good friend of the Voices With Soul girls and they all hail from Luton.
Andy was Brenda's backing singer and came second on the ITV1 talent show This Is My Moment hosted by former Spice Girl Mel B.
The Conway Sisters supported Westlife at their Sligo Concert in 2003. Afterwards, Westlife's Shane Filan invited them to perform at his wedding. They also had a top 10 hit with their debut single What Do You Do in the Irish Charts in 2003.
Phillip when he was 17, reached the final rounds of the Irish Song for Europe Competition which was judged by Louis Walsh. Louis supported Phillip after that and right up until they both fell out prior to Phillip's exit from the X Factor which was engineered by the producers at Louis' request. Prior to appearing on the X Factor, Phillip won an Elvis sound-a-like competition on Ulster TV's Kelly Show.
Chenai and 4tune reached the Bootcamp rounds in last year's X Factor. Enough said!
Chico was specifically brought in by the X Factor producers who wanted to engineer a conflict during the live rounds in order to boost the show's ratings and media coverage.
Nicholas and Addictiv Ladies have both been showcased on Choice FM part of the Capitol Radio Group. Nicholas also reached the finals of an Unsigned Acts Competition prior to going on the X Factor.
Maria was a Backing Singer for Gabrielle. She is also a top-line writer specialising in R&B/Pop and has collaborated with Multiplay, Redzone, the producers behind Big Brovaz, Oskar Paul and David Brent (Mis-Teeq). She also recently featured as a guest vocalist on Romeo's (from the So Solid Crew) debut album and has attracted a lot of interest as a solo artist from numerous record labels.

With all the above in mind, do any of you still think that they were all selected at random from the 75,000 who applied?

As for coincidence, most of it shows that the people with talent (apart from chico of course) have generally been doing the rounds in the music world already and x-factor is a quick way to gain recognition and possibly that ellusive record deal wether they win or not

quite shocked at all this info...so Andy isn't just a bin man? lets give Journey south a chance,
apparently they have been doing just pubs and clubs. isn't that how bands should start.

Journey South are definetely genuine, a colleague at work is very good friends with the one with the short hair and his wife and they ( the brothers ) have really struggled as a group for years.

going to vote for them from now on!

I wasn't interested in Andy's story - I liked his voice, but the background doesn't bother me.

Brenda - there was no way her husband booked that hotel by co-incidence... I'm assuming any hotel would have told people about x-factor happening to save all the complaints by doddery old ladies about the crowds.

Chenai and 4tune - we knew that.

the others.... who knows! At the end of the day, it is about talent and unsigned artists, which they are.

Journey South I love though

I am now wondering if Andy got a job as a bin man just before auditioning to help with his story?? Too far fetched? there is a lot at stake.....

who cares anyway - they put about 30 people through these shows each year and I can count on 1 hand the amount of people that have ever been successful from it.

In a years time you won't even remember who was on the show this year!

I was thinking that the other day - the last Pop Idol (the big girl that won)... the only people I have seen in steady work since then are the two who lost that are doing kids tv!!!

all the finalists make a bit of money oiut of it, they do a tour and release an album. the majority proaly just end up in Heat magazine, and do club/pub shows I suppose. Didn't Gareth Gates lose his record deal? Will Young is very good though.

both Will and Alex Parks are very talented, neither had to be super sexy (although Will is, of course), they just showed good, honest Talent. funny how they are both gay though. Mind you, if you have seen Wills latest video, he looks fab with his shirt off!!

its all getting a bit sad for me, I watched Xfactor Xtra last night on ITV2, they showed the after show party, and also info on last few days in house - very interesting...Chico tried to chat up one of his backing singers, but apparently she is with gareth gates!! very incestuos business

Really don't like Alex Parks. Think she is talentless screecher tbh. Will Young is very good though. Lemar has done amazingly well - think people have forgotten he started on Fame Academy.

pashmina - if you like Will with his shirt off then you should go and see his new movie. Apparently he is COMPLETELY naked in it . Can't remember what it's called or if it's out yet, but it's got Bob Hoskins in it too (also naked I fear!)
