jennymac: Maria has just picked up the phone to make a police report about Frank.

John hasn't lost his memory - he has a mental illness, and has just come home from hospital (he was sectioned, and an inpatient for a couple of months); he now appears to under GP care, and is abandoning his medication. The reason he doesn't know about some recent events (eg spending in the CC statement) isn't memory, it's actual absence. But of course, there are unpleasant things in his memory and the spoilers suggest this is all about to go horribly wrong.

BTW: does Roy's mother know Hayley used to be Horace?

kittya · 19/04/2011 13:33

I didnt realize she knew.

I really can't work Maria out and I've stopped caring about that rape storylines.

Why won't Sallie take Kevin back?

albania · 19/04/2011 13:38

Kittya Shock
"my husband cheated on me with his best friends wife, impregnated her and let the affair carry on for over a year (iirc), AIBU not to take him back?"

"YABU, can't you see that he's recently won a lot of money, where has your gold digging nature gone? Get in there love!"

meditrina · 19/04/2011 14:44

But he's just tried to hand her a cheque for the full amount of the win. She refused to take it.

kittya · 19/04/2011 17:19

And she's no stranger to affairs either.

NoelEdmondshair · 20/04/2011 05:25

The problem with Corrie is that it is on too frequently so has too much air time to fill hence the ridiculous storylines and and bizarre behaviour of the characters.

oohlaalaa · 20/04/2011 18:00

Will occasionally watch corrie, if in and nothing else on. However I am switching it on and then having to change channel, as I cannot bare Tracy and all the other stupidly unbelievable storylines, such as John and Fizz.

The storylines are too pot, which is a pity, as I used to quite enjoy corrie.

kittya · 20/04/2011 19:00

I dont think its on too often infact, its not on often enough!! whats with the big gap midweek?

meditrina · 20/04/2011 19:09

I still miss it on Wednesdays (that, alongside Mondays, is where it belongs).

The trouble is that they no longer seem to do the little side-line stories that round out the programme, but don't need to go anywhere. Norris and Mary could just do their competitions and gossip. There could just be banter at the bar. Roy could get estimates for redecorating the cafe. Sophie could have an interesting college project (what is she studying anyhow?). Rosie could have a bad spray tan. There could be more chitchat and little triumphs and disappointments.

Instead characters only seem to appear to drive on the big story lines and then vanish completely between times. Too disjointed and it makes the big plot lines too sudden, and loses the sense of watching a little community.

It's a shame.

kittya · 20/04/2011 19:21

Thats so true.

I notice that Rosie is having a six month sabbatical, I wonder how they will write her out?

Im so disappointed for Chesney, I had high hopes for him.

lucykate · 21/04/2011 12:05

totally agree. bit of a cop out storyline for ches, young lad - what can we do with him, err, i know, he can get his girlfriend pregnant. oh how original.

meditrina · 21/04/2011 12:30

John breaks down completely, Fiz is imprisoned for fraud. Chesney is left holding 2 babies?

kittya · 21/04/2011 12:33

Why don't any of these kids go to bloody further education? It really annoys me.

meditrina · 21/04/2011 12:45

You've got me trying to remember now who did - it's not many.

Ken of course was the early intellectual because he went to university.

Sophie is doing something at Collge, as is Sian. Toyah did. Andy MacDonald did.

Did Sarah Platt? Or Todd?

womma · 21/04/2011 13:02

Toyah went on to further education and now she's a doctor on Holby.

Totally agree with Meditrina about the storylines. Leave the sensationalist rubbish to EE.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 21/04/2011 14:55

But no one goes away to University in Corrie. Or even works anywhere more than about a minute away. At least they all have washing machines which is not the case in EE.

kittya · 21/04/2011 15:05

Aren't they lucky to all beable to walk to work?

cherryburton · 21/04/2011 15:17

The storylines have gone a bit nuts, that bank job the other week was deplorable.

I'm wondering what's going to happen with Frank. I quite like the fact that they've shown that women quite often don't report incidents like this. Similar to the recent Hollyoaks storyline. (Showing my top tv viewing credentials here, aren't I?!)

mammamia25 · 21/04/2011 17:49

Michelle's son is supposed to have gone to uni in Scotland, iirc.

kittya · 21/04/2011 21:03

I don't know why Maria was surprised

NoelEdmondshair · 22/04/2011 07:26

He didn't try to rape her - he tried it on!

Maria is a silly moo of a character. She gets so wound up about Frank's behaviour but is understanding about her new boyfriend being a wife beater Hmm

kittya · 22/04/2011 10:10

I really don't lke her out of everyone
