New Rovers Landlady - Michelle Collins

Have just seen this on the BBC website

Corrie

Didn't see that one coming. Not sure what I think, I hate EE, I didn't like Cindy one bit (did watch it back then). I haven't seen anything Michelle Collins has done since, admittedly, but am a bit dismayed at EE infiltrating Corrie. Sounds as though she plays a northerner, not another Baldwin family type Londoner, which will help.

Having said that I thought Jessie Wallace was great as Elsie Tanner in the 50 year tribute to Corrie. So maybe the transition can be achieved.

don't watch corrie but i like her, she's good.

snailsandwich · 16/04/2011 11:27

She can act - good luck to her!

glammanana · 16/04/2011 16:29

Fab news she is just a great actress, have seen her in a few good parts,
her partner running the pub is the guy from Taggat so that should be a good
mix.Getting fed up of the Becky/steve story line now boring-boring

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 16/04/2011 16:57

I'm also fed up with Becky, Steve's OK, he could stay. Glad you all think she's a good choice. I like the man from Taggart. It is definitely time they had a brand new character or two, all the recent introductions have either been minor (Marc, Xin) or old ones dredged back up again (Tommy).

I had been thinking that longer term Graeme and Tina would be great in the Rovers but don't think that's going to happen!

Yuk i cant stand Michelle Collins, she just plays Cindy Beale in everything shes in, a bit like the woman playing Tanias mum in ee, shes just Dolly Rawlings again.

sharbie · 16/04/2011 17:49

she was fab in illustrated mum chipstick

AlanTitWank · 18/04/2011 12:54

I know I should get out more but how can Steve afford a pub manager as well as still being there himself?

childishiknow · 18/04/2011 13:59

Looking forward to it. Katherine Kelly has quit Corrie today anyways.

kittya · 18/04/2011 18:33

Is she leaving Max behind?

childishiknow · 18/04/2011 18:49

don't know. she doesn't leave until the end of the year but I do know that ss start asking questions soon thanks to david platt,

franke · 18/04/2011 18:53

Oh Lord, Michelle Collins will be doing that lopsided smirk won't she.

meditrina · 18/04/2011 18:56

Steve has to have someone. He isn't the licencee, nor can either he or Becky become it (criminal record). So he's pretty much got to sell up, one Liz has gone.

I can't quite see a southerner running The Rovers. Or perhaps she'll do a different accent convincingly (like the actor who played Fred Elliott).

childishiknow · 18/04/2011 20:42

Carla's accent is put on and I don't think Alison King does a bad job!

She comes in with her other half and daughter I believe.

Christ knows where they all live in that pub!

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 18/04/2011 21:42

When Shelley lived there it seemed to just have one cramped upstairs bedroom and they all used the living room downstairs, indeed it was still like that when Steve took over. Now there seems to be a very spacious flat up there.

Her DH is going to be John Michie who played Robbie Ross in Taggart.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 19/04/2011 15:44

Yes, now I will be more than happy to watch him behind the bar.

OP posts:
womma · 19/04/2011 20:44

No!!! Not keen on this idea at all. I'm not having that Cindy behind behind the bar of the Rovers. Bring back Bette....Sad

meditrina · 19/04/2011 20:46

Betty is still there.

If it were RL, she'd have to be up for world's oldest barmaid!
