Loving the cabs - straighteners and all Grin

adamschic · 05/04/2011 21:29

Anyone know where it is filmed? Saw Melanie Hill chatting about it, saying it won't show the north as gritty like most dramas try to.

gregssausageroll · 05/04/2011 21:39

not bad! not great though!

Is it me or have the same old actors/actresses been wheeled into this drama

sharbie · 05/04/2011 21:53

presumably they have bbc contracts ??

cornishpasty · 05/04/2011 22:26

I commented to dp how Jo Joyner is so much older than Paul Nicholls and was gobsmacked to find out that she is only 33! I think she's lovely, but I honestly would have said that she's almost 40.

slartybartfast · 05/04/2011 23:05

i enjoyed this Grin

MelinaM · 05/04/2011 23:22

It's supposed to be set near Warrington, it's filmed in Hoylake, Lymm and the surrounding areas adamschic.

I agree gregssausageroll, I was rather disappointed! It could be a lot better than it is!

sharbie · 05/04/2011 23:27

give it time - may improve

gregssausageroll · 06/04/2011 07:43

Remember the lady in the wheelchair trying to get into the back of one of the cabs and a guy came to help? What has he been in again? Recognised him straightaway.

adamschic · 06/04/2011 10:02

So the town shots were in Lymm but I was wondering about the beach shots, looked rather nice and it isn't Warrington or Lymm. I thought it was quite good, room for improvement though. Only recognised Paul Nicholl at the snogging stage, thought he was rather nice from the off, so worth watching for him.

I hate to see Northern Women stereotyped as loud mouthed, (just as much as I hate to see hear the likes of Kat in Eastenders screaming) which this did but not too exaggerated. I'm Northern and am not in the least bit gobby.

Saltire · 06/04/2011 10:05

The wheelchair helper guy used to be in Soldier Soldier many years ago, for a couple of series before it ended, but he's been in a few things since

MunchkinsMumof2 · 06/04/2011 10:13

I think it's got potential but dh said he thinks it will be something I'll watch alone as wasn't impressed!

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 06/04/2011 10:16

God - awful awful awful. Stereotype working class Northern woman all ballsy and then pally with each other. Rolling their eyes about dreadful fellas. Patronising load of old tosh. And why doesn't Paul Kaye's agent get him some other role than this one - same panto characters he's been playing for the last 10 years. Wont waste my time with any more of this rubbish.

lorelilee · 06/04/2011 12:10

I liked it - not remotely challenging, but fun to watch. Oh and I love Paul Nicholls :)

sharbie · 06/04/2011 12:32

yh me too he just gets better with age too

OkeeDoeKee · 06/04/2011 12:37

Oh Lucky I totally agree. I won't be watching again. Every cliché going. hated it.

YouaretooniceNOT · 06/04/2011 12:55

I only managed to catch about five minutes last night. i intend to watch on BBCiplayer. Claire Sweeny makes me feel sick at he best of times though!

Was she OTT actress of the year award in the first episode last night?

diddl · 06/04/2011 14:03

I saw the ad & that for me was enough to not bother.

Looked like Carry in Cabbie.

NotInTheMood · 06/04/2011 14:15

I thought it was quite easy watching but the type of drama that should be on a sunday

SaveWaterDrinkWine · 06/04/2011 16:54

The beach shots were filmed on Hoylake and West Kirby (Wirral) Promenades. The TV Company rented a house on North Parade in Hoylake.
