I actually did check the calender to see if it was April 1st.
Bizzaro.

I was Shock but not at the fact of the couples obbsesion with dolls but at the fact that ITV allowed it to be on tv. The couple obviously had some form of SN's, i don't know if the man did see them as sexual or not but why put it on the tv (and take the piss out of them on national tv)?

And i hate the word 'Freak', my daughter's get called 'freak's' because they are different (they have Aspergers and Autism, they are not freaks).

I agree it was a very odd interview and should not have been on TV at all.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 30/03/2011 12:43

Yes Marne, I also look forward to my dcs being called 'freaks' a bit more often as they get older..... I found it quite sad tbh.... the producers should have known better. And so should the posters on here Hmm

otisdriftwood · 30/03/2011 14:09

It was car crash tv alright......ewww I don't think anyone is buying the 'it's not a sexual intrest' thing either.

Hammy02 · 30/03/2011 14:18

I can't believe his wife is happy to sit back while her husband spends £100,000 on dolls! Unbelievable. He clearly has issues.

amberscow · 30/03/2011 14:24

oh my god i watched this too but didn't have the laptop near me to start a thread. i dont get it at all. and i actually think the woman is weirder for being ok with it. they dress them up and take them out. WTH!

I must have missed where they said they had SN - what have they got?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 31/03/2011 08:26

No one said they had SN, it was clear just from watching them they had 'issues'

wheresmywaist · 31/03/2011 10:06

Maybe they were just strange, I wouldn't automatically label someone as SN because of an obsession Confused

Marne · 31/03/2011 10:24

No, they didn't say they had sn's but being a mother of 2 'freaks' on the autistic spectrum you could see clearly that they has autistic traits and social problems. My dd1 may not come across to most people as having Aspergers but she acts very similar to the couple on 'this morning', she has obsessions which she takes very seriously and because of the lack of social skills she can not see why everyone else is not as undrestanding of her obsessions. The couple seemed very passionate about what they do/collect and because of their lack of social skills they can not see why others may be offended.

I think what they are doing is harmless to them but yes it may offend others and come across as odd, i found the dolls quite disturbing but too a person who is possibly on the autistic spectrum a doll is a lot easier to talk to and be friends with than a real person as they have one facial expression (you don't have to read their faces/feelings).

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 31/03/2011 10:31

My kids are 'strange'. They will grow up to become 'strange' adults and will no doubt be called 'freaks' at some point.

How anybody could watch those two and not see they had issues is beyond me....dd always takes a small teddy out with her, she uses it to talk to people (via the teddy) as it's easier for her.... i'm trying desperately to wean her off it now she's 12, siply because I don't want people calling her a 'freak'

BooToYouToo · 31/03/2011 19:34

Phil mentioned that the forum was strictly adults only so I assumed the photos they take with the dolls probably have them in compromising positions even if they don't actually use them sexually.
